So, I have a very long and getting cumbersome UrbanMech Thread going already, which has had over 77% of respondents (around 800 I think) in favor of an Urbie being added, and in particular, quite a good response to having a Hero version based off my "Deputy Dawg" Design.

Since the Original was getting TOO unwieldy with edits,
http://mwomercs.com/...d-another-poll/
I thought I would try a clean slate. Hopefully it will get similar support and input.

Some Ideas put forth to enhance UrbanMech "viability", as per previous Topic: (Not expecting ALL to be applied, but any mix of the ideas below could work as "quirks" for the chassis)

-Give it even more torso rotation than a Catapult, able to rotate 360 degree in either direction
-Make it the size of a Portly Commando (it IS only 5 tons heavier, and stocky... so maybe even a skosh shorter)
-Give both arms crazy firing arcs
-Better acceleration and braking than other mechs (it might not go fast, but it can stutter run better than anything, and throw off aim) along with great turn radius.
-Allow it to double the normal engine upgrade size.
-Jump lift off faster than a Spider, and a better jump fuel supply.
- Allow for some non cannon upgrades like AMS and ECM (he might be slow, but good luck finding him!).
- 3 Module slots, stock.
-a Hero version mounting a much larger engine (maybe allowing our lovable garbage can to hit 84 kph?) (maybe based of my Capellan March "Police Special?)
-3 or MORE AMS slots.
-Like one of the Spiders, or the Heavy Metal, allow it to carry more JumpJets than Canon.

If you are an Urbie Hater, that is OK too.. just try to maybe actually give well thought out posts WHY it cannot work.

I can tell you right now, it would outsell Heavy Metal as a Hero Mech.

I like v1 BETTER, but I feel v2 is more "Anatomically correct" when compared to a mech like the Hunchback

your thoughts?

**EDIT** For those who are not aware of the Scale of the various Chassis in MWO:
Posted Image
The scale was made from IN GAME MODEL rips by Adridos, that I then modded. I need to add the Jager, Highlander and Spider, so I need to touch base with Adridos if he has those.

Short and squat. Give it 360, or near 360 twist, ECM capability+3-4 modules, and tweaked jumpjets that allow for more agile jumping and you've got a winner.

MWO needs the Urbie, and so do I.

V1 for me, I think v2 looks like it would be hollow or something.

also, am thinking that since the AC is more than 1/3 of the mech's total mass, i might upscale it 10-15%.... what are your thoughts?

Also, JJ on the torso so it can jump backwards at 180 twist... it would make for some interesting aerial maneuvers

Wanting to tempt you, do I. Succumb to temptation, and then we can convince someone to 3D print Urbie awesomeness

The urbie I like is not on this poll.

which is this one, without the 360 windows. I'd save the 360 windows for the clanner urbie.

Far as looks go in my opinion I like this urbie here.

I'd say 5-6 modules and MASC capability.

Firstly, let me just tell you that I love your urbanmech designs. I don't think I posted in your other thread but I was following it, and to answer you question I prefer v1. ;)

But the truth is your designs are a bit too awesome to be classic urbanmechs. There just not, you know, bucket-on-legsy enough, you know? But I'm not hating, your urbies are well crafted and full of character. It's just, more bucket, you know?

I had tons of request for them, and since original version had them, I decided to try them out. TBH, I would think the Clan version LESS likely to use such a crude method of peripheral awareness, as opposed to the IS not spending a dime more than they had to on a "Garrison Mech" design. But fear not.... there are 100,000s of them, I think there might have been some different "production runs" and the SLDF era one's might have the single cockpit window.

Not taking it as hate my friend. Just remember that no mech is "designed" to look like a battered trashcan. Concept art is simply meant to represent the original factory fresh design, which would have had to undergo all sorts of trials to impress the Brass enough to justify production.

Pretty sure most existing ones are more battered and dented than a taxi cab in Mexico City.......
(And I would LOVE if the DEVS could somehow add a "Battered" skin to the Mechs as an option. I would TOTALLY pay IRL money to weather, age and kick the crap outta my mech)

Definitely V1. V2 looks like someone tried to resurrect it after an Atlas stepped on the poor thing and was only partially successful.

The mechanic is not in game yet but maybe giving the urban mech the ability to fit heavy weapons by reducing their weight slightly when equipped? Or even just make the mech weigh less but keep it 30 tons so it has more options.

I could see them working well for supporting heavy or fast assault mechs, even defend them from enemy light mechs. It would be hard to dodge attacks from something that can can aim 360 (can't really stay behind the enemy).

Lastly, they could be an exceptionally stable weapon platform compared to other light. Maybe give them the ability to tackle enemy lights as if it were a hunchback (tho it should not be able to tackle anything bigger than a Cicada).

well, since the poor things get outrun by Atlases regularly, that might happen more than one cares to think about.....

v1 for me. v2 looks more like a v1 is trying to hold it's breath for as long as it can so would probably affect top speed (tough to run fast while holding your breath) though it may give a boost to it's JJ capacities...

But I think the Urby should stay short and squat, almost exact size of the jenner itself but with bigger armor skirts and of course I wanted that massive cannon to be propped up almost above the shoulder this way when the urby turns to the side the arm can take the hit to make the light mech more survivable so it can spread damage around.

Kill me now, before I have to endure 130kph Urbanmechs.

In short - I don't trust PGI to limit the speed of the Urbie.
