Hmm, the only reference to a James Mckenna Shipyards is the McKenna Shipyards over Kathil that where renamed the Kathil Shipworks by 3039. Anyone got anything on this?

Ah ha ha ha ha! I love states that allow this sort of thing. 'Class Action Lawsuit'. 'Putting the military before the lives of workers'. Such decadence would never be tolerated in the Draconis Combine. Unthinkable dishonor. The military is more important that the lives of workers, obviously only the ulitmate victory of the state, only the reestablishment of the Star League under the control of the Draconis Combine is important. So what if a few workers lives are lost? They died fighting for the greater good. While not as glorious as the death of a mechwarrior, they die so that the machines of war can live, so that we can one day see the dragon flag fly over Terra. Class action lawsuit. Amazing.

Soldiers eat food harvested by workers.
Soldiers use equipment produced by workers.
Soldiers shoot bullers manufactured by workers.
Soldiers wear uniforms tailored by workers.
Soldiers are paid by taxes collected form workers.
Soldiers owe thier lives to workers.

This, the above poster's comments, is why the Draconis Combine is always refered to as "Draconian." It's disgusting, and it clearly explains why nobody in the entire DCMS had the moxy to eliminate the Kurita line after what happened at Kentares; DCMS soldiers have no respect for life or honor.

All lives are equally important my brother. The Draconis Combine's nilitary however protects the workers, the farmers, the engineers, the scientists, and everyone else.

Without the laborers hard work, of course we warriors would not be able to protect them from the predations of evil states like the Federated Commonwealth.

They are one of the pillars, the Pillar of Teak, as are we, the Pillar of Steel.

It is our duty, and our privilege to protect them, and if necessary to die for them. It is probably possible for such a lawsuit to be undertaken in our state, but I do not think it would get very far, and I do not think such a suit would be begun in the first place, as the Pillar of Teak knows it's duty as well as do we. They are honorable in their own ways.

Honor comes with a cost, sometimes to the body, sometimes to the soul. However it guides our steps, so that one day we may bless the rest of humanity with a perfect society. At that time, we will know longer be needed, and the pillar of steel may be laid to rest.

To kill is not honor, to protect is honor. It is my humble wish that we were not needed.

Individual actions do not reflect on the lives of their family. Would you strangle the baby of a murderer? You words are ironic. While what happened on Kentares is...regretful, you must remember that Jinjiro Kurita was in shock from the assasination of his father on that planet. He was driven by a dark hatred.
.
Only a month into the operation, however, discipline began to break down and many committed suicide as a result of the atrocities.

House Kurita has provided the Combine with many brilliant leaders.

According to the ethos of Bushido, it becomes the only option when trapped between obligation and moral imperatives. e.g. " I am bound to follow the orders of my lord, but killing all these civilians is unconscionable." In a way, it was a societally acceptable act of extreme protest.

Not my society, but... it was was a very strong way of sending a message. Unfortunately Jijiro Kurita was too unhinged to respond appropriately, and the absolutist Kuritans don't have the notions of responsibility to their people as even house Liao does. (Frankly, I suspect he might have been removed from power sooner had the military had any trust in Zabu Kurita, but...)

The state of technological decline after the centuries of the dissolution of the Star League hit the aerospace sector the hardest. The loss of advanced jumpdrive technology was followed by the loss of numerous production lines. Many small craft, dropship and jumpship designs have been lost to antiquity. The few production yards that remain open have been scavenging parts to make repairs on the few active docks left. ;)

Just thing about that Mechjock the next time the idea of including a hotdrop in your plans for a recon-in-force raid or your next pirate hunt. The shipyard may not be able to repair the damage up to standards and how knows if that stardrive will lose containment the nest time it is fired up? :(

Pucker-Up! <_<

Some info from those of us that know the history of Btech better then the country we were raised in.

The McKenna yards over kathil were built during the original Star Leagues drive on the Periphery states in the southern Sphere (TC and MoC). A ship with even minor damage could be out of commission for almost 2 years with the trip to the Terran Hegemony (now defunct). To fill this need Kathil was selected and yards built, upgraded a number of times the yards were some of the most advanced that the League had outside of Hegemony space. When the Star League fell the yards, being in House Davion space went to Davion. However their proximity to the CC crippled their warship building capacity very early.

By the early 3000's the yards were in some serious problems, while the technology to build Jumpships still existed at the yards the proximity to CC space had thrown tons of problems into the building process. Only when the CC was pushed back during the 4th SS war did Kathil finally come back into it's own. With the front lines finally a comfortable distance away the yards once again began full production and after the Star League memory core allowed, a repair and upgrade were introduced.

The yards are again pumping out jumpships for the FedSuns at a decent rate and a large amount of technical and engineering personal have been around the yards since the late 3030's. Many speculate their trying to resurrect the ability to build warships, others are saying that a new Jumpship design might be in the works.

(this is all from memory, I believe it's mostly right. I also haven't gone past 3050 with the intel to keep within the game time setting. We know the yards eventually go on to produce Fox class destroyers and Avalon class Missile crusiers before the yards are heavily damaged in the FedCom civil war and then I believe destroyed in the WoB Jihad ((my GOD I hope we don't have the WoB Jihad in this game!))).

You clearly have no concept of caste - there are people, such as myself, who are clearly better than other people. Those few who have the blessed name of Kurita are the best that humanity has to offer, the pinacle of the warrior spirit. This holds true for all the people of the Combine; even the lowest is superior to any of the so-called nobility of the other States. Nor I do not dismiss the value of a worker or technician, they fight for the same goal I do, but to use lawyers to complain that the battlefield they fight on is unsafe? What a truely amazing concept. Should I send lawyers if a Lyran mech fires its weapons at me? Of course not! I merely fight harder, and if I die, my family does not sue the Commonwealth, but honor my noble sacrafice. So too are the lives of workers who fall in the service of the DCMS honored - many systems, mine included, have festivals to honor fallen workers, and most mill and factory towns have at least one shrine dedicated to the working class. Does this sound like a society which discounts the importance of industry? We will eventually overcome the usurpers and pretenders of the Inner Sphere through the skill of warriors like myself, and through the skill and knowledge of each worker who builds the arms we fight with.

Leave it to the Kuritas to confuse loss and sacrifice, or the plight of another league's civilians for the whining of their own.

Please excuse the words of my more...patriotic brethren. Obviously he has forgotten that the duty of any Samurai is to the people under his command, as the tenets of Bushido demand.

Would you rather have an operational Battleship Class that delivers miliraty units to secure a friendly world, or a fully operational Jacht class civilian ship that has no world to go to?

Pretty simple choice.

The Inner Sphere is at war, and tools of war take priority.

It is an understood tabo to target jupships for attack. We only have barely enough to make the logistics runs to keep the various worlds functioning much less move vast forces into combat. Any unit that targets jumpships will have a big bulsseye for complete destruction! Carefull with the weapons fire next to one of these precious assests. I like my Timbique Beer! :)

During the Industrial Age of Old Earth, there was a conflict called the American Civil War. Most of the details have been lost to time, but it is known that some generals feared battle (I suppose this goes with being the precursors of the Free Worlds League). A man named McClellan, or McLeenand, scholars disagree, was said to have actually waited for his enemy, a Chinese man named Lee, to invade, and even then only attacked when ordered by politicians. Can you imagine the humiliation his family must have felt? This is why all mechwarriors who fight under the Dragon Banner follow bushido. So that we do not fear death - ours, or those under our command. The nature of battle is that men and women die, and the orders you give may lead to the death of your subordinates - yet you give these orders because to fail to do so is to fail in battle. Now take that to our shipyards. The ships must fly if we are to bring the fight to our enemies in the Commonwealth and the FS, even ComStar must occationally be reminded who their ultimate master is, and our factory managers know that to delay is to invite defeat, to loose the initiative - and so our factories, and our shipyards do not have any of this unionization, or civil rights nonsense.

These places are battlefields! The workers must repair the ships, and if that means some must die for the greater good, then they must die! We are a nation of soldiers, of warriors, not degenerate democracies, or greedy merchant baronies. It is you, fellow warrior, who do not understand - we must not allow the weakness of liberty which has infected our neighbors to infect the Draconis Combine. We must not coddle the lazy and the cowardly, but push our workers to triumph! Only when all peoples of the Draconis Combine push together will we achieve ultimate victory!
