Devs... It would seem this issue will never die. Alot of players dont like assault mode. Alot of other players want team death match mode.

I look at this forum a week after my poll about TDM, and what do I see? More polls and topics created by other people about the same thing. I use the search function and what do I see? at least 20+ older past topics and polls about the same issue. I read through many ask the devs questions and what do I see? Countless people asking this question.... why cant we get team death match? Where is TDM? When do we get TDM? Is TDM a mode you plan on adding? (and many more)

Isnt this the definition of a no brainer? Come... on... devs. Are you even aware of this whole TDM thing? This community is ripe for a new game mode.

TDM should be referred to as "Can't figure out how to counter base caps" mode.

Edit - since some clearly can't figure out this is a JOKE I decided to make it a bit more clear.

Which is ironic and hilarious when they then go forward with other "features" that will segment the playerbase much further than adding one new game mode would. (regional servers with separate accounts no ability to matchmake across them, 3rd Person View, etc)

Headscratching, indeed.

I'd like to see both. People want 'em, so let 'em have 'em. I think it'd be cool to see my camouflages, and I'd probably queue up for a TDM mode. If they never saw the light of day it wouldn't bother me one whit, but neither would their existence.

Make no mistake though, assault is totally fine the way it is. Literally 100% of the complaints about assault can be paraphrased as "I don't like losing, and I deserve to win always all the time. Waaah. Waaah." These fools do not understand why they are losing, refuse to admit any responsibility for losing, and cannot tolerate losing (they forgot, somewhere along the line, that mechwarrior is a game that you play for fun), and when they make the horrific discovery that they aren't as good as they think they are, they will not be any more satisfied with TDM.

I'm sure that would be a great source of entertainment for the mods.

Player A report: Plz ban player xxxx, they refused to engage 2 on 1 in TDM and ran around the map until the time ran out.

GM reply: Greetings Player A, we take all reports of griefing seriously. While we can not disclose any actions taken we thank you for taking the time to report.

GM tags the report as resolved and goes back to playing a competitors game.

This also confused me. It's an idea I've seen many times before on these forums, and one that seemed so unconscionably moronic that I was always surprised that people didn't take a minute and say "Wow. Yeah. This is dumb."

It isn't griefing to use your speed to try and get the enemy to make an error. It's this crazy thing known as "playing the ******* game." "Come and die like a good little boy" is proof positive of how insane a certain contingent of the TDM brigade is.

I'd like to copy paste from another topic. I believe this is particularly applicable to everyone who is begging for TDM:

Quote

I have noticed often while spectating that people make breathtakingly stupid decisions and execute those amazingly moronic decisions effectively and efficiently. As a result, people play in a way that is mind bogglingly dumb, but their skill makes their incompetence seem reasonable.

Mechanical skill can help you grind through a brawl. You can develop that just by playing. I'm a much better shot with a Gauss rifle than I was when I first started playing. Having a rough understanding of the best strategy to pursue, on the other hand, was something I figured out by the time my fourth match was over. That comes with a willingness to accept that what you did may have been wrong, and that while you played well and made no errors of emission, you may have made a severe error of omission that cost you the game. These guys who are begging for TDM have no conception of these latter errors, and do not play to improve and enjoy the game so much as they play to win. Paradoxically, this is a great way to lose more, and notice those losses more.

Even if you run all over the map with multiple enemies chasing you is it really griefing if you refuse to engage on their terms?

It's not an exploit and it's not breaking any rules.

I suspect players reporting others for refusing to engage would probably just end up on the GM's list with all their complaints filed under pointless whining.

I'm pretty sure they will TL;DR through what you said, but your point is good and accurate. The reality is that if you don't have "total control" over the situation, complaining why you are in the situation in the first place is easier to do. Most that complain are probably running heavier mechs and chassis and have very little interest in responding to capping threats... or even asking for a faster scouting teammate to do their job.

The key important thing about knowing the situation is that people have to actually act on it. I recently played a match on Tourmaline and I believe we were being capped early. There was another light with me (or was it a Cicada, I cannot recall) and we were near their base. My teammate decided to go back and I went to cap... I was hoping to draw the enemy back to their base (I was in a Jenner). Anyways, it happens that our base was almost capped, and 2 of the enemy came responding to my capping.

Suffice it to say, it was 6-1 (in favor of my team) when I checked the scoreboard (I think we started the match 7v8, which I was on the team of 7) and those two mechs that happened to come back to get me eventually died.

Sometimes it truly is a simple matter of teamwork, but hey, I WANNA BLOW UP OTHER MECHS AMIRITE?

OBJECTIVE BASED GAMEPLAY... our current gamemodes are TDM enough... tweak the mechanics for assault, and we are fine...

i really want immersion and "sense" in gameplay

People want TDM, not 3rdP, yet they said no TDM, yes 3rdP. Piranha listens!

Where is the option, no these things are all bad and I would be upset if they were to be included at all?

They're in other polls, this one's PGI/Teralitha-style: "You're only allowed to vote for the things we want, not against, because you people voting against are losers who don't count."
