Just wondering which chassis people feel is more competitive. The A seems to have quite a punch, but I like the ML hit with the AL.

Which is your favorite and why.

They obviously have the asset for it. We all played it. Its a real variant.

PGI removing the AH made no sense, give it back.

I didn't run cents back then. I mostly ran cats in CB.

Forever, it will live in our memories, no matter what PGI does. They can take our 'mechs, but they can never make us forget.

As to the OP... Uh... It's a hard choice, but in the end, I would have to say I prefer my CN9-AL over my CN9-A, though only by a very small margin.

CN9-A. It's just so durable. It's what I wish the hunchback was like.

I love my CN9-A most out of all my Cents. It packs a good punch, is fast and can zombie better than other 'Mechs can, IMO.

The A brings the PAIN. Especially since neither arm matters. Regardless of what people are telling you, multiple SRM6+A is still killing mechs.

Well...... My face WAS the AH.

Since that is not an option, I'll vote for A. I like ballistics. And the AL just never fit me right. Just wish missiles weren't total crap as that puts a big dent in it's overall firepower. I usually run with a UAC5, 2 medium pulse and 3 streaks (mostly for ammo conservation.... 1 ton goes a long ways with streaks)

ThAt said I have trades in my Cent for the 7K Trebbie, with the one/two of a UAC5 and ERPPC, backed by dual srm 4 racks or streaks. Seems light on fire power but it works for me.

That's kind of what I did with my TBT-7K(d)

If you are running an AL over the A you are bad and you should feel bad.

I started with the CN9 AL as my first owned mech. I also made my first kills in the game with it. Later I added the CN9 A in the height of the SRM craze.

After what they corrected the SRMs, I would say the AL would be more competitive right now with all those lasers. It makes a good beginner's mech, along with the HBK 4SP which has a similar hardpoint layout.

Now don't say that. Especially with the sad state of missiles and lasers having HSR.

Oh man, the A is such a fun mech. Right now I'm running my Cent A with a 245XL, an AC10, an 3xSSRM2s and two MPulse Lasers. With the XL engine you have to pick your fights more carefully, but the speed allows you to do so much easier.

I feel like I can put out massive amounts of damage, and having the option to use ballistic weapons is fantastic on desert maps. With the AL, you have to choose between overheating or not shooting. When I start running hot in the A, I simply focus on using my Autocannon and SSRMs more, cycling in my dual pulse lasers once my heat cools off. I see all sorts of energy-based mechs either shutting down or not shooting while I'm still running circles around them with my SSRMs and AC10. I love it.

On a side note: I love the big frakking left arm of the Centurions. Every match that I come out with a critically damaged or destroyed left arm and a right arm that hasn't even had its armor stripped... I smile.

Yen-Lo-Wang. Also the AH... but PGI threw that one into a black hole.

It's got to be the AL for me. Lasers have no firing delay. Hit the button and insta-zap whatever is under the crosshairs. AC's have a half second delay and I swear all those missles have almost a full sec delay. It's just too fustrating to play that way for me.

Did you know that if you press the [ / ] key on a Centurion, it opens up the missile bay doors, meaning that missiles fire immediately when the button is pressed. You suffer a -10% damage increase to the left torso, but I think it's generally worth it. (You'll see a little tiny yellow light on the left "strut" of your cockpit turn to green when its open).

(Tip also works on Catapults and Stalkers too)
