I would really like to have an ELO rating for each Mech, not just for each class. I find games in my natural ELO bracket (wherever it is that I end up after a good afternoon of consistent performance) to be very challenging and enjoyable. If I decide to try a new Mech as an experiment, I usually do pretty badly, and then when I go back to my original Mech I'm in lower ELO games and don't have as much fun.

Lacking this option discourages experimentation.

I think this is a good idea.

I've asked for this for a while in the ELO threads. It is what is needed to correctly balance the game.. both in tracking mech usage but also OP/UP.

Not a good idea, an elite pilot could pick up a new chassis and configure it well even without the elites and basics and own those at the lower levels.

You can probably create an initial ELO value based on the average of the current ELO of all the chassis you have played within the same weight class.. assuming you have a reasonable enough sampling.

You would have to lose quite a lot of games to even benefit from it. ELO tuning requires many games.. so tanking in like 5-10 games won't be enough.

Which means this gets quickly rectified within another hour of winning.

It is a true waste of time.

Lets go a step further. How about an Elo rating for each variant?

I think the biggest example of where this matters would be the Raven-3L vs the other two variants.

It should come with a duh.

Not all variants are created equal... which is OK most of the time. Then there are other times where it's overwhelmingly obvious that the differences matter in an order of magnitude...

Very much agreed. All mechs within a weight class play differently.

I'm having a lot of difficulty with Dragons, all because I've become rather adept and too used to the armless mechs (Catapults and Jagermechs). Sure my ELO will drop after I play Dragons for a while, but when I switch back to my Jagermechs I'll be fighting players that are less "skilled" than I am.

Yes, and his score would then skyrocket, taking care of the problem very quickly.

This is actually what I already meant; I meant having a unique ELO rating for each Mech in my MechBay. If I buy two different X-5s, I want two different ELO ratings for them so that I can experiment, configure them completely differently, ect.
