Banshee is a worse Mech in almost every way. Undergunned and hated.

Not the Banshee 3S...it was the most used assault in Solaris.

House Kurita salvaged an Orion Battlemech that is supposedly the one Kerensky piloted before the Exodus and was left at some scrapyard system. It was repaired, refitted and given to the young Theodore Kurita. ( source )

So we might just as well see a "Teddy Kurita" Hero that would in fact be a refitted Kerensky hero. It even fits the timeline. :)

You forgot the part that Teddy has wrecked it during the War of 3039.

What am I saying, the devs dont care about the time line. They put in the Highlander before the Banshee.

What the hell does that have to do with the timeline?

True Tarl, but that is the only useful Banshee variant. Do we really need a 95 ton Mech with only one good variant? I would prefer a useful Victor, Zeus, or Cyclops.

As a lot of you know, there's been hefty discussion about what loadout the Orion should have. Namely, the classic appearance which it's always had (SRM 4 in the LA) doesn't match its loadout (SRM 4 in the LT).

The MWO concept art shows its appearance matching the old TROs rather than the old artwork, which means that sadly we're not getting Orions with SRM-arms...

...except, look at the Heavy Metal. Compare its loadout with a Highlander. It has all of the same guns, but they're almost all in different spots! Where the Highlander has Medium Lasers in its torso and an SRM arm, the Heavy Metal has an SRM torso and a Medium Laser arm. It's craziness!

If the dev team is willing to do something like that for the Heavy Metal, why not the Orion? The Orion hero 'Mech could be nothing more than a made-up variant that has SRMs in its LA instead of the LT, as well as probably some other changes... but players who want to buy the Hero version and just tweak it to be a stock version that matches the old artwork will be able to.

I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen. Because after all, if there are X number of people who like buying Hero 'Mechs, that number only gets bigger if that Hero 'Mech matches old artwork people love and miss.

With good ole heavy metal if you read the original lore behind Rhonda and her HM you will see that they found a cache of SL era mechs Wolfs Dragoons told them they had to be stripped down and refitted with "current" tech (read current as crappy none SL era tech).

Once she completed her plan to say that her group attack and stole mechs from ComStar she was "allowed" to refit the Heavy Metal with SL era tech altering the mech even more.

The fact that Highlanders are not in production at this time in the lore while Banshees are, have more variants, and are far more common?

Really?

Quote

An agreement between StarCorps and Hollis Incorporated to rebuild destroyed chassis from scratch using readily-available technology kept the line going until the mid-3030s when limited production was restarted by StarCorps on Son Hoa and Corey, producing barely a dozen new 'Mechs per year. These HGN-733 Highlanders were used in small numbers by the Capellan Confederation and Lyran Commonwealth, commonly as part of lances containing Exterminators, Victors, Grasshoppers and Catapults.
Unbeknownst to many ComStar also maintained a large stock of Highlanders left over from the Star League, which they gifted to the Draconis Combine during the War of 3039. The appearance of so many seemingly rare 733s, along with a few 732s whose advanced technology managed to slip through ComStar screening, had an large impact on Lyran morale during that conflict.

OP.

The SRM is not in the arm, because the Orion artwork is showing the ON1-K variant.

http://goodsects.got...White_White.png

The variant with the classic look of LRM's in a circle around the laser, is the ON1-M

http://goodsects.got...White_White.png

And the variant with the classic SRM's in each arm, circles around the lasers, is the ON1-V

http://goodsects.got...White_White.png

All of which will surely be added. Meaning we will get the LRM or SRM packed arms in a circle around the lasers.

Source? Sarna.net right?
-yeah it is Sarna. 12 mechs a year isnt production, its a novelty that doesnt make a rare mech more common. How about you qoute the rest of the article that says full production doesnt start until 3057?

I bet the hero Orion will be "Lady Death" Trevaline's mech instead of Kerensky's.

That would both rustle me and make my day simultaneously... pic related
