While War Thunder does have a sort of "dropship mode" for their arcade game there is a problem with players leaving the game when their team starts to lose. I could see a similar problem in MWO due to the importance of focus fire in this game. If your team manages to gain a significant lead killing enemy mechs it just becomes that much easier to build on that lead and leaves little reason for the enemy team to bother respawning in their other mechs.

Drop ship mode is dead and will be replaced with the Lobby system.

I don't think it is completely dead. Ask the Devs 35 answers give some hope (bad at quoting, sorry, direct Copy and Paste from AtD35 answers):

"
Scarcer: Will we ever see TDM with respawns? TDM and waves has existed ever since it was possible for Mechwarrior games. We need a longer more action packed game mode to play where we do not have to launch a new match to battle more. Alternatively, how soon will we receive something like Drop-ship mode?
A: We are still designing the next set of game modes, including any form of re-spawn mode (aka DropShip).

thing is, the problem you address is already present in the current mwo game modes. it will always be a problem in any game where you can not reconnect or connect to a ongoing match (not to mention world with quitters). in the gaming world we are free to come and go, only thing we can do is try control the flow eg. like introducing punishments to quitters (not best example but you get it right?).

but for a min lets think in an ideal situation, where there are no quitters. the game mode should be fab!

Good thing I have 5 Jenners or I might have had to take a different mech in dropship mode, and that would be terrible.
