I was just wondering why there isn't an energy slot in the Left torso. There is clearly an energy slot on the model just under the missile slot, so why isn't it available? As the mech sets right now it is slot hungry. It's a 90 ton mech that only loads what will easily fit on a 70 ton cataphract. This doesn't seem right.

Well, I can carry an AC20 on my CTF's. HGN-HM can't do that. But hey, it carries 2xSSRM2 with PPCs and Gauss. I think that is all it will ever do, which isn't bad. But I just keep looking at the empty right torso and it cries nerfed for a 90 ton assault.

Not using jjets till collision is put back in.

Fit this on a cataphract:
3 LL
1 Gauss (3t)
JJ
2 SRM6 (2t)
330XL @60 KPh
544 pts of armor
1.21 heat efficiency
800+ damage on 3 out of 7 matches and a KDR of 1.77

Havent seen that out of a Cataphract yet...

The JJ are VERY useful to increase turning for fast heavies and lights

Good place for heat sinks. :P

I have been running a STD build on my HGN-HM and keeping track of how often I lose a side torso before center torso. I've found that, in every match where I lose an ST, I eventually do die; but sometimes I am absorbing a lot of damage for my teammates. I think in only one of these games, did it make so much difference that it earned us a win where we would otherwise have lost.

So 11 matches is not much data, but I've died 6 times, and out of those I have had a side torso blown off 5 times before losing my center torso. To me, this means the side torsos are too easy to hit for changing back to an XL engine.

If you're curious, my load-out is STD275, Endo-Steel, 15 DHS, 2 LL, 1 MPL (kind of useless, should ditch it), 2 LRM5, UAC5, AC5, 6 tons total ammo. Armor is 544/558 and this build is actually only 87 tons, so I am still adjusting it. It is slot-starved so I might just get a slightly faster engine.

I don't think that's a laser. It's square first of all.

bottom line, No 3erppc/gauss poptarts with manageable heat and 500+ armor. If you cant see what a balance nightmare that would become............

Predicting a lot of screwball energy hardpoints on the c-bill variants (head/ct) with jj's to keep the same balance.

It is the exact same "square" as the lasers in the left arm and on other mechs. The question remains.

There's no need to buff the heavy metal.

It destroys all mechs because it has loudspeakers announcing that you just blew someone up. Never had so much fun blowing things up in my entire life. :P

I'm of course excited about the additional variants, but I believe the HGN-HM is viable. If the others are "better" it should be just better-suited to your style of play. They couldn't get too much "better" without being over-powered IMO.

I like playing it and hope it'll be my favorite variant, because the Hero bonus for CB is nice. Sure would like a hero Atlas with ECM though!

...no it's not. It looks nothing like the lasers in the arm or the lasers on any other mech.

tbh i'd rather have split ballistics over split energy, even if it cant do dual ac20's the advantage the extra protection it has over the cataphract as well as the extra tonnage to play with dual gauss on a std power plant is considerable imo

That's not an energy slot. It's a giant USB port for loading music... bagpipes, for example.

Bagpipes over a loudspeaker system is a war crime. Same for accordions and polka in general.

And any of a number of modern pop/rap/trance bands.

I'll type this slowly so you can keep up, the only thing missing is that since there is no weapon there it doesn't have the little round laser optic in it,

Yeah, exactly... which makes it just a black square...

Thanks for typing slow. I'm so stupid I get confused. You are such a nice person.
