So this is one of my favorite games. It's currently in alpha testing and is only like $20 for life and all the expansions and there is a free, unlimited demo of the previous main build. For being a 0.16 release, there is hundreds of hours worth of fun involved. The modding community for the game is huge as well, there is easily 50 times more content available with mods than with the stock game. If any of you guys ever dreamed of being an astronaught and loved legos, check it out.

Because you have to build one. And they don't die yet in the stock game, there is a mod to add oxygen though, makes the long missions interesting.
