EA is more 'mediocre' than they are 'bad'.

They've got a formula that works for them, so they stick with it. Unfortunately, that means they continue to publish decidedly average products.

I...is this relevant? Or off topic discussion worthy?

As a publisher, they're pretty meh. Though they've backed a few games that I've really liked (all the ME games, and spore, incidentally). Still, that might have more to do with the devs than EA.

I definitely prefer PGI / IGP to them though. Mind you, Microsoft had the MW4 titles, which turned out pretty good, but could have been way better. And then the IP was dropped.

EA isn't so much bad as they are short sighted and money grubbing...wait a minute...

I'm not seeing how that's different from any other sports game they've ever released.

EA also failed to deliver Return to Ostagar when I bought DA:O Ultimate Edition, their backup code didn't work and their customer service reps passed me between each other wasting my time before one of them finally closed the case without solving it.

Anything that is published by EA is instantly thrown off my radar now.

I wouldn't go quite as far to call them the worst, but they're definitely up there with Wal-Mart and Monsanto.

I really, really recommend watching this video if you're unsure as to EA's BS ^_^

Tom's Hardware news article

Tom's News said:

According to the report, the games publisher has repeatedly failed at three core requirements of running a consumer-friendly business: (1) provide a product people want and like, (2) sell that product at a reasonable price, and (3) support its products.

Lets see...
Many games by EA have not been something I've wanted. A few IPs/Development houses they purchased were great until they owned them. Mass Effect is a great example.
They overcharge for unfinished product, force you to "purchase" DLC that's already on the disk (ME3), and nickel & dime you with add-ons (some of which are necessary like for online play - project $10 - makes the price $65+$10 just to play online) thus adding to the already ridiculous price ($60 for a digital-only copy of a game? REALLY?).
Not supporting a lot of their older products. Shutting down servers for not-so-old products. Reselling games that did well 5 years ago at full price (Need For Speed Most Wanted is a recent one). I mean, the list goes on.

That Jimquisition video about sums up a lot of it nicely.

I don't like EA for one simpley reason. They kill great companies:
