With Elo and other 'artificial limitations' imposed on us, they should bring back costs and increase rewards. Then it might actually matter if you live/die and win/lose.

Personally, I hope they implement a battlevalue/tonnage/class matching soon and consider some sort of consequences to the meta-game otherwise I'll just play in some league like NBT was and private matches.

I have 0 interest in playing let alone paying for a meta-game that doesn't have consequences for losing and forces me to play with PUGs/Lonewolfs instead of my unit. I hate the artificial 4 man limitation and saddling me with poor players every 2nd or 3rd game so my odds of losing go up.

Someone did a study recently that showed that Elo is working just the way it's supposed to and that all the complaining is just human nature only noticing when it doesn't go their way.

http://mwomercs.com/...of-data-inside/

Basically tonnage mismatches don't happen as often as is perceived and in the instances when there was great mismatch, at least in this sample, the team with more tons lost.

Elo is taking tonnage into account by factoring in a players effectiveness by weight class.

This also means that the light mechs you are seeing are keeping the same Elo as you despite all the disadvantages of being a light mech.

You can drop with 1-4 players or you can drop with 8. I don't see how they are forcing you not to play with your unit. In Guild wars you could drop in groups of 1-4, 6, or 8 in different battlegrounds. We used to have people waiting around all night long to be able to fill a missing spot in our 8 man Guild vs Guild.

Just get 8 players? They are forcing units to fight units though and not random lone wolves and that is totally fair.

I'm not against R&R though. I think things are ok without it though. I don't really think we had people not taking an expensive weapon system because of cost considerations when we had R&R, they just made less money, or maybe even lost money. People will still bring the best mech possible.

It might possibly make people more focused on winning than damage though the rewards for damage are usually higher than winning...

I just don't really see it making anything better.

After more than 4.5k matches, i have the following to say:

Those matches between Heavies/Assaults are a lot of fun, even mediums are fun. But those lights? They are just a pain in the neck of the game.

thats why i pilot my jenner so much...
because i´m not "a pain".....i´m a damn killing machine!!!

Funny A2,

I followed your link. It says that it uses experimental systems to increase battlefield performance. It sounds just like a Raven 3L, that PGI created. So, what is your beef? The lasers are medium lasers, and the mech was actually replaced by a Medium Range system. Gee...wish I had a medium range system on my Raven. A Bloodhound Active Probe would have been nice, and an FCS tied to the MRS would be excellent...give me more firepower...more damage. Thank you for showing me just how far PGI had to nerf the abilities of the mech, in order to satisfy all the people complaining about its limited capabilities.

RVN-3X Raven X - This version uses experimental systems to increase battlefield performance. The standard skeleton is traded for a Composite Internal Structure and the electronic systems are replaced with a Bloodhound Active Probe, Angel ECM Suite, and an Apollo FCS for the MRM-20 system that replaces the SRM launcher. The remaining weaponry has been replaced by a Laser AMS and two Medium X-Pulse Lasers. An XL Gyro provides weight savings for this equipment. BV (2.0) = 1,050[9]

Pretty sure all of that tech is far later in the timeline.

I fully agree that tons of lights make matches incredibly unfun. From the books you never read about light mechs being anything other than scouts and dying incredibly fast. In MWO that can take a dual AC20 hit to the torso and keep going.

Get 4 raven 3Ls in a premade and its GG, they will circle strafe everything to death while absorbing all the damage you can dish out. The fact ECM disables the only method of attack that works against fast moving small targets is just a kick in the crotch.

Don't worry, PGI said its working as intended so just wait a month or two for the anti ECM consumables.
