I agree that TAG is basically perfect, but the system it does such a good job supporting is terrible, which hurts TAG.

Excel is a wonderful thing. Especially when you get to the point where you literally need the extra memory provided by Office 2010 :D

Technically I use open office.

It's kinda hilarious. My first data set I did using notepad. 3 rounds later and i have a nearly fully automated system in open office, and next time it will be even more so.

If only I could make it auto input the data id be set =P

I believe that diversity studies would be be done during normal play and not during extra XP weekends etc. Too many people are trying to farm as much XP as they can during those times, so it would skew findings.

And during the week people are leveling up the new mechs, or eliting other variants like the raven 2x/4x, which also skews results. At least during special weekends you can clearly account for those (for instance, like I did showing Founders and Heroes distributions).

Tournaments are probably the best bet, but those are also heavily weighted towards the ruleset (for instance, lots of TAG was used in the last one because of the spotting bonuses).

I think tournaments would a good bet, but just during the week would be a good time. I believe this one proved that the majority of XP weekends will be full of Hero mechs. It would be interesting to see the fluctuations of Trial mechs from one instance to another.

Keep up the good work Hammer and I'll gladly participate in the next one as well!

I'm thinking next month either just before or the week after the next mech release.

A mix of hero/founder bonuses, and the missile hotfix makes them less desirable than direct, long range weapons. Most likely.
