I never saw the MW2 Catapult. I had botha Titanium Edition for PC and a PS1 edition. I know the computer had more, but I have never, ever seen inner sphere mechs in MW2. O_O;

The Inner Sphere 'Mechs were featured in MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries, which has you playing a Mercenary / Mercenary Commander just as the Clans invade.

Would've been cool. I'm sad it didn't work for my titanium edition. Looks like I gotta go old-school game hunting.

I much prefer the MWO mechs over their alternate art counterparts. This is even going back to the original TRO3025, which hold the true "classic" images for me. The MWO designs (thus far) look more like military machines of war with their thick paneling and fixed heads (do any of the MWO mechs have heads that look like they can turn?).

Specific to this poll, I prefer the snub-nose, as it feels less fragile than the beaked version.

As a diehard tabletop player, I'd love to see IWM release minis of these designs.

The 3025 TRO is my favorite Catapult image...
and the old pewter miniature in the same pose

The new MWO iterations are the best renderings in some time...

Many things can be said about MWO, but one thing is certain - their mech design is awesome and modeling team did incredible job. I was always fan of Awesome, but immediately fell in love with Catapult, it's the best designed mech I've ever seen. I even started to build a papercraft model of K2, it rocks so much!

I found this, in which I really liked the Atlas from it. While we won't see them in these forms, there are several mechs likely to come to MWO that can be seen here. However I had already asked about 4 legged mechs. It was stated "No plans." Good news is that usually means "We're not telling you about the 7 or so four legged mechs we have up our sleeves yet."

MechWarrior 2 Says Hello

Sure that isn't Mechwarrior 3? I had MW2 and A ) game didn't look nearly that good, and B ) Only had Clan mechs. Unless this is from Ghost Bear expansion. Still, I am going to go MW3 on that one.

The small ears make it look odd in the original art. The pointy nose on the inception art is odd too but I like it. Really, Alex's artwork has really made most of the mechs look beyond awesome. The only one that I really don't like is the Trebuchet. The Cent could be a little thinner but all of them look amazing.

More screenshots added on the first page! Check out the two spoilers!

All shots taken by Zhizhu's photographer, Lordred. No SweetFX or other game graphics changes used. Only post-image brightness, contrast, and saturation tweaks.

It's from the titanium edition of MW2:Mercs. MW2 was released right on the cusp of 3d graphics cards, and they re-released the series to support rendering for Win95 users lucky enough to have a Voodoo card lol. I remember saving up to get one for my 200MHz gateway so I could play the 3d version of MW:Mercs specifically. I wish I could remember if it was a PCI or ISA card.

MW3, imho, looked vastly superior to MW4. The effects were much better, there was damage modeling (or maybe just in the pirates moon exp), and things had a gritty kind of feel. MW4 things were just too blocky and polygonal. The MW3 team had alot less technology and resources to work with, but they did everything possible to make it look as good as possible, just look at the texture maps for the mechs vs. what microsoft crapped out in MW4. Check out the gameplay videos from both and the difference is night and day as far as immersion goes.

Not only that, but in MW3 even the animations were better. Now I will argue that the voice acting quality was god awful there on MW3. But the game itself taught so many tricks that work on MWO. Such as water.
