Hey.
When playing a TT game the other day, and doing some thinking, an idea occured to me. I admit I haven't thought 'That' much about it, but I thought I would toss it up in the air anyway for people to catch.
A thing some/lot/many people compain about right now is people constantly alpha striking, and it might not be one of the major issues, but none the less... here goes:
Let heat take effects on a might a bit like in TT. In MWO (and other mech sim games) heat works like: Pew pew pew "Warning: Lots of heat! Will shut down in a bit" pew pew "Shutdown!!!" Pew "Override" Pew Pew "Mech goes boom". In TT your mech start to take effects from heat at even low heat grades, such as loss of movement, harder times hitting targets and such, and then later you will have to work with shut down and ammo explosion and such. So I was thinking that if heat would effect a mech in a bit like the same way, say when you build up some heat your engine wont work as well, and you maybe take a loss of 5% speed or such, while you got a bit of heat. With more heat your targeting computer or neurohelmet might start to get a tiny bit of blurry from the heat, increaseing the difficulty of hitting. This would makes fights longer than they are now, force people to stop alpha-ing all the time, and maybe get those "I use only lazers on my mech!" people to start getting a mix of weapons on their mechs.
It's just a ball I toss up. People can catch it if they want.

And no, I don't mean "LOL u got 2% heat, and then ur helmet goes black and mech cant muve lol"...

The hunchback HBK-4P only has energy weapons. Pilots spend ~99% of the time on ~99% heat.
Exageration for the sake of clarity, naturally.

A good idea though. Would make battlles that much more intense. Why not add other visual effects like cracks on the cockpit windows and heat distortion from recently-fired weapons. A low priority for Beta to be sure, but an interesting game feature.

I really like the idea, even if the speed drop is only 5-10% it would be enough for people to have to think . although I do think it would advantage lights even more in the speed stakes
