Actually, we spent 9 minutes humping our side of the ridge after i climbed down. What I'm illustrating is the peak of gameplay? It's humping a ridge and overwatching any openings.

Just look at that formation, and the mechs used. I got matched against PGI guys in 3Ds, running alongside more 3Ds and stalkers. Give me back my SRMS already.

1. Brawling is a bad idea on open maps.
2. Ridges are a fantastic position on open maps.
3. Poptarding works great on open maps with hills and ridges.

This has been known since MW3/4.

Oh, and it will be even better once hsr for ballistics is getting patched in.

Even with prepatch SRMs, ridgecamping and jumpsiniping would be the No.1 tactic for Alpine.

On a second thought, did someone just shoot a pulse laser from E4 to E6? Faith in humanity....

Does this only happen to NVIDIA? I have not seen this yet on my ATI card.

No, it happens to a lot of people, no matter what they do, but sometimes, doing something fixes it, but it's likely placebo. I have to alt+tab out of the game to get rid of it.

Well I have to say I have not had this. When I read chat that someone has Polygon HUD, I was under the impression hat they had the rainbow Map and confused cromo with Poligon. :P

Thanks for the visual Vass. :D

Got it, that's terrible, like the yellow screen hell of old. I have seen the broken minimap in all of its flavors though.

I'm running a kepler Nvidia on the 3.14 drivers and this polygon bug is the ONLY bug I've been getting with any consistency. Alt tabbing clears it every time but it will occur usually 3 or 4 times per match that I have the bug.

Seeing as my bug at least let's me play and forces me to cool down between shots it might actually be helping me :D.

Isn't that normal?

This is why alpine sucks. No cover at all.

Desert is a large map but moving up into brawling range is not impossible. Alpine is absolute garbage.

Easily my least favorite map.

I'm just blown away that since...what was it the 3rd? PGI hasn't really been commenting on the progress they are making towards fixing all this crap.

Everyone knows you never go full zoom.

As for ridge humping / overwatch, that's kinda how Infantry fighting works in RL until you can establish position and maneuver in close to destroy the enemy.

I have yet to have HUD issues like the ones posted here...thank god.

Anyway, you got to hug cover and take pot shots. That is...
A ) Part of waging warfare. Why stay out in the open, when you can partially shield yourself from fire.
B ) A byproduct of larger maps that everyone wanted.

If you want less sniping, either go back to some smaller maps, or have shorter sight lines in the larger maps.

Does it happen in windowed mode? Or only in full screen? I play in windowed only, and it never happened to me.

Maybe upgrade those ML's to LL's... might have to drop a bit of HS, that's about it, and keep an eye on things, but I won't tell you how to play, as you've been doing it longer than I have.

Sucks about that match... specifically that ALL of them seem to have crossed together. Oftentimes, I see a few go up to snipe from the mountaintop while the rest move down the valley. When that happens I flank right (from the lower base) and stay behind the ridges until I make the mountains, whereupon I climb them (slowly) and absolutely mug the LRM/Gauss-boats I find up there, sending them skittering off down the hill towards their mates, if they live.

Walking towards the enemy up the open part is... well... suicide, I've found. Not enough ridges to keep you covered if you're big and slow.

Alpine needs to be tweaked; it's no doubt about it. I can deal with Tourmaline as it has multiple paths to flank or move in and avoid getting alpha'd 800 meters away. They need a couple more pathways in these mountains, maybe a tunnel under the E5 area one that branches in two directions.

Actually, tunnels through those mountains is an AWESOME idea.
