Bugs in a Beta?! Say it ain't so!

Trent ~ The amount of bugs that cause the game to be unplayable for even one match is quite a fair amount. Especially when this is a game where the loss of one person can turn the tide easily.

Three in 'beta' games that have come out with hardly any bugs in the last few months;

Path of the Exiles - a few bugs but nothing that caused the game to just crash or make it unplayable.

Warframe - I haven't come across anything at all that is even mildly alarming.

Star Conflict - You can argue it's a launch but it's pretty much the same boat as MWO.

I'd also even argue that the only game that might be in direct conflict with genere is Hawken, and I have not even had any issues with that game at all.

It has been talked about till everyone is blue in the face, the fact is this - This is the only game I play where I am consistently affected by bugs of all kinds.

Wow...this is SERIOUSLY choice...

Here we have a game in beta for over a year now....

They release yet anothe patch that turns said game beta into unplayable for a BUNCH of the player base...

We get absoutely no feedback whatsoever from the dev team that they even recognize the problem...

AND we are forced to DEBUG our whole computer system....

Uninstall....and run secondary programs etc...

Just to hopefully get said game remotely playable again...

And, with fingers crossed, hope it stays playable until the next patch crisis...

AND we expect people to pay any kind of money to play "premium" time?

Can you say EPIC FAIL?

I wonder whats the mentality of people who wake up early in the morning and the first thing they feel like doing is complain on a forum.

Is it a more efficient way of waking up then drinking coffee or something?

Efficient?

Yes.

More fun?

Apparently not...

If you are running Windows XP then half your problems are with Windows and that original specs for game said it should run, but does only just.
I have fewer problems with Windows 7 64bit (Having played MW on XP as well). Still get dropped texture, loss of HUD and conquest scores. But not drop in FPS.

Then there is the factor of your ISP which is outside the control of game, and does have an effect.

In fairness to revisit this thread. I wiped the game and re-installed MWO. I have now played 6 games with no issues. Thius did seem to have helped.

Similar, here: three games, none of the various HUD bugs.

I still teleport, rubberband, and get ~3 seconds of trigger lag in the ACs, though.

For what it's worth, I redid the nVidia drivers with Driver Sweeper about two days ago; As luck would have it, my Spyder Elite had just started carping about recalibrating (being key to visibility of any kind on Forrest Colony,) so that all worked out nicely.

When I uninsulated the game, I asked Norton to check the registry: It found only one odd-ball, unidentified string, with all the others being clearly irrelevant to MWO.

I'm really thinkin' about holding off 'till late on the 16th …

Whats up with this game? I just tried to play 5 games. FOUR of them i was bugged in one way or another. It's sad. I've dropped a good deal of money in this game and it only seems to be getting worse. i know others have spent quite a bit also, where is this money going? Are the DEVS driving Ferraris? I would like to know.

Frustrating indeed.

???????

Played 20 matches today and no bug. Everything was fine.

Uninstall the game and reinstall it.

This is the problem for PGI, If you go too fast you get hit by plenty of bugs.

Wait wut? How is PGI going 'fast'?
All they need to do is fire Bryan or remove his ability to talk and hire less **** code writers

... ideally do this:

1> Uninstall MWO
2> Run CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner (its free), make sure you do a full registary scan.
3> Make sure the MWO folder is completely deleted, no old files left behind
4> Defrag hard-drive
5> Reinstall game

No!

OP, you're wrong it is not not working it is WORKING (as PGI) intended. Just imagine the many bugs as Hardcore mode and we'll b alright!

I'm afraid this "Hardcore mode" has rewound a couple of months of my skill and turned me into a noob again. I can handle no map, no IFF, but 4-9 fps means I can't hit you, or dodge your shots.

Stop. Stop right there.

I understand your frustration with the game and how it plays, but the money-spending gripe I cannot sympathize with. You have spent money on a beta. That was your choice. You cannot expect the game to be perfect simply because you spent money on it. It is still in beta and it will be until launch in Fall. Until then, expect bugs, imbalances and general issues aplenty, since the purpose of the playerbase at this stage in time is to report on these things so the devs can fix them.

Wait and see. If you're unhappy with the game, take a break and come back after every patch until you're happy with what you see. It's not worth torturing yourself if you're not enjoying the game.

That's because the game went from purely ideas to an actual program not too long ago in terms of programming time. You can be upset, but you're just being unreasonable and coming off as whiny.

They probably woke up and tried to play the game only to have it crash or bug the hell out of them 3 matches in a row.

Then maybe they thought they had a legitimate reason to go on the forums and offer feedback.

I love for all the talk of "hur, its a beta, don't complain!" you golds seem to miss the point that part of a beta is providing feedback about problems.

I am going to have to add my voice to this as well. Way too many bugs, no hud, no-skins on mechs, various issues with minimap, instead of adding features you need to fix these things because it really affects playability and your lovely ELO.

Then, you find out it only lasts for about 12 hours of play time, and it's back to 32 flavors of FUBAR HUD …

Anyone remember if Teh Devs will fix the rubberbanding come the 16th?

When it gets to the point that EVERY PATCH instead of wondering what bug fixes and changes will be made, you wonder what new bugs will be added and if the game will even be playable (that is assuming the patcher doesn't bork and you can actually patch), it's time to say enough. PGI don't have the expertise to be doing this, nor do they seem to want to hire those that do.
This is the first time I've ever called a game I love dying, but I'm afraid that is the case now with MWO.

4> Defrag hard-drive
5> Reinstall game
6> Defrag hard-drive for every bug that is still in the game
7> Apply RectoRex™ balm to your **** (its not free)
8> Wear a tin foil hat whenever you play

Because obviously YOU are the only one suffering from those bugs, and there must be something wrong with YOUR system. /s
