Which Awesomes Are Worth Playing?

My favourite mech is the Awesome, my favourite varients are the 9M and the 8Q. They are really great mechs and if you want to find out more about them and possible builds jump on the Raven Alliance TS channel on NGNG again and I would be happy to share my builds with you.

It appears the 8Q and 8R are the others that are most-preferred.
Yes, I am just bored. I mean, working up my skills in the assault class before I graduate to the universally-feared SDR-6BS.

Anyone with any talent, targets an Awesome first because they are so easy to hit and destroy in seconds.

I then got the 8Q and the 9M. The 8Q is mostly a cheaper version of the 9M sans the missile slots and it cant take bigger engines.
The problem(s) I see with the Awesomes are the engine limits (except the 9m and maybe the PB (dont know, dont own)). This keeps you to a max speed. I want to say like 67ish with speed tweak and max engine.
The 9M does not suffer this, but it comes with a 320XL. Ok for the 9M, but useless elsewhere except maybe a Jenner. IF it were a 325 at least, it could hold that extra heat sink.
The awesomes do suffer from wide load syndrome making the torsos easy targets. Play smart and realize they are not brawlers (for the most part) and you will be fine.
I like the PPC ability as well as the torso twist. I even think they LOOK cool, if a bit squatty.
All mine are mastered and I too was thinking about getting another.
This SALE on the MC cost of the 9M is decent for those in the market. You can pick one up, use those CBills to trick it out and still have plenty left for the next model or whenever the Highlanders show up (if they draw your interest).
Good Luck on whatever you decide

I'm planning to buy two more Highlanders as soon as they come out. Got to entertain myself in the mean time, though. Looks like the sale has begun so as soon as I get tired of this JM6-DD, it's Awesome time. Or QQ time; I will keep you updated on my tear-production.

Unless you're tonnage limited, I wouldn't touch 'em with someone else's member. Drop weight limited, or need of fast calvary they can work well (for as long as the paper armor and huge torsos hold up).

I don't drive mediums so not sure about this but can any medium use 4 LPulse and still move at max speed? The 9m can and its amazing how effective is is at nailing cat heads or getting behind the slow mechs for coring. Works well for legging lights too. You may have a point because so many Atlas drivers think its a good idea to just ignore you so you don't even have to move behind them.

^^This!
If you die in an awesome before both arms and all armor on your torso has been sheared off you're doing it wrong. You must think of yourself as a sheep in summer, longing for the farmer to bring the shearer.

Anyway, my AWS recommendations are:
PB
9M
8Q
8R
The SRM nerf hit the PB and the 8R pretty hard, so these probably aren't good starter Awesomes.

Are they all gimp? Better than I realize? Which ones should I buy? No sense in getting one Awesome if you're not going to get three, I figure.
I use the basic 3 PPC awesome, upgraded to 3 ERPPC, 1 pulse, and changed some other stuff.
I usually rock 3rd - 1st in the scores.
