What about the people who don't come to the forums? Or the users that don't know how to update their drivers?
What are they gonna do to fix the horridness that is the april 2nd patch? And the driver update, not really a fix by the way.

This worries me, greatly.

How are we gonna get the word to them? Huh PGI? How are we going to tell the silent MAJORITY of MWO users, that it's only broken for a little while?

Because if they don't come to the forums they are completely in the dark about the ongoing progression of the game. You yourselves informed us here on the forums that we are the vocal minority. And if the fairly tech savvy active forum users are upset, how must the majority of users feel?

They will not waste time getting angry or upset.

I can guess what most of these users will do, they will stop playing. They will not bother to go update their drivers. They will go find a game that does not require that they actively search the forums for workarounds and fixes. Because that is just too much to ask of normal users.

PGI every time this forum explodes, just imagine how the people who don't come here are coping....or NOT coping as is probably the case. Every time this games stability takes a hit, so does your active player base. And WOE to the players that are just now finding MWO. I doubt very much that anyone experiencing their first impressions of MWO on this patch are coming back.

Get an e-mail out at least. SOMEthing, ANYthing to let the silent majority know that the game is still here and improving. Or at least stating that there is a fix on the way.

Your future is at stake every time a patch goes this wrong.

EDIT 4/13/13: Resurrected thread because after the passage of some time it's even more valid. A quick peruse of the forums and everything that made me hang up my neurohelmet is still here. Played a few drops after hotfix and was outie 5000 when the first hud bug showed.

It was mentioned in the Patch Notes wasn't it? It's a clickable link on the client itself.

So you're saying that you disagree with PGI's advice in the patch notes to upgrade drivers, because players might not upgrade their drivers?

...this sounds a lot like an argument for putting braille on drive-thru ATMs, because blind people might want the ability to use them too...

You missed the point. Just because they know where to start does not mean they will exert the effort.

We have been told that the majority of MWO players do not come to or post on the forum. And ALL of them have a forum account and got the game here.

No i did not say anything like that. And i have updated MY drivers...but do you really think most users are just going to know to update their drivers? No they are not. And the point is that most MWO users NEVER COME TO THE FORUM.

And i still get the awesome trippy polygon bug even after updating my drivers.

That assumes that people will actually click it. Guess what? Most will not. And updated drivers only fix(in theory) 2 bugs...that came along with this patch.

My drivers are up to date and the game is still broken as ****.

As for the patch notes, where are they? I didn't see them when I booted up the client after the downtime ended, and in fact I just went to reddit to find them since it is so much easier to navigate than to critical information that absolutely should've been right on the front page but was instead buried in a forum somewhere (at least I think; I gave up after 30 seconds and just used an external option).

So I just checked. They aren't in the command chair. They aren't listed when you boot up the client. They aren't in the patch feedback forum.

Instead they're located at an unlinked URL that may be accessed with a ****** little button in the top right of the client when they should be THE FIRST thing you see at mwomercs.com's front page, and they should be right in the newsfeed on the launcher.

Ridiculous.

Please edit the Topic of this thread to be more than just "What About The...". Give it an actual topic so people know what the thread it about. Thanks.

edit: I believe this is accessed by choosing the "Use Full Editor" option when you go to Edit your topic post.

They're getting 3rd person view and anything else they demand through their secret hotline channels to the developers. What about'em? :)

Best practice would be to add a system analysis and warning feature to the launcher. It already has that. When I launch on my laptop, it already tells me that my video is not supported (because it is integrated graphics - I just muck about in mechlab). Shouldn't this same system analysis step also warn about a known NVidia incompatibility. Solve it in tech and your support staff will smile at you for decreasing their load while improving overall impressions of stability.

Oh they will...but will they still be silently playing MWO? Or will they stealthily move on and not bother to announce loudly that they are leaving?

I'm guessing option #2 will be more popular.

It's a Beta. If you don't know how to get on a forum to report bugs/issues, then you have no business being in a Beta and your opinion doesn't matter. You signed on to a Beta, ostensibly, to help report bugs and improve the game. If you don't have access to the forums to report bugs, then, well, you can figure it out.

Silent majority? Here i donate my 3rd post count for u.

We dont care if MWO/PGI sink...if its a good game in the end, we will roll in more $$...if its a failure we will just jump ship.

Bought heavy metal just now, played 2rounds and started to CTD. Friend arrived and asked how was the new mech and i showed him my black screen....face palm and proceed to dinner without single-poop given
