I'm not new, but I use the training grounds regularly.

I think Ai bots shooting back is a waste of developing time as it would have to be optional and thus require added ui/back end work to put in the infrastructure for training grounds options. However, I would like to see, say, half the mechs moving in different preset patterns. That way, there would be some static test targets and some moving ones.

Every time I mod a build I test heat and set weapon groups in TG.

I visit them almost every day that I play. It is a good way to practice firing on the move and also heat.

I would probably use them more if they functioned just like the live environment. I do like the ability to map explore and that's what I've mainly used them for.

It's very useful when setting up controls, weapons groups and trying out new builds. Back when I was a new player and joystick wasn't as well supported as now, I had to configure, try it out in an actual game, discover that it wasn't working and leave the game repeatedly. It made me feel bad for the other players.

The training grounds is good as it is, but maybe bots that walk around in predefined patterns would not be too hard to implement.

I don't think we need AI bots shooting at us on the Training Grounds, but I would like to be able to choose which mechs I will have for targets, (preferably from my own stable of mechs), but a better selection is a must. The current mechs are "stock" and their armor values are too low to get useful feedback on the effectiveness of a weapons load.

I would also like to see the targets move, even if it is just a few of them. I would also like for our pilot skills to work in the TG. Having enemy mechs respawn would also be a nice addition for some testing.

I know they are working on improving the TG, I am hopeful that they will get some tweaks to it soon.

What we have now is the "Testing Grounds." I believe the Devs have said that "Training Ground" would be something different? More detailed, possibly including basic AI stuff and group drops.

Ummm, you are aware that in the command chair there is a "Training Grounds" that will include AI bots? If not then you need to search around for more information. Not to mention you should include the option: "I use the training grounds to test weapon loadouts".

Not being a new player, I use the training grounds to map/remap keybindings to my joystick/Nostromo. Also to test out new builds, weapon grouping configs, heat management, etc.

I voted NO on 'live fire', because I like being able to engage targets when ready for my testing purposes. Having said that, I wouldn't mind an option to turn 'live fire' on/off.

I sometimes use the training grounds to test builds and set weapon groups. I prefer to test weapons on the atlas as it's one of the few mechs with more or less maxed armor in it's stock config. Also if you can kill an atlas that isn't moving you can kill one that is. :D

Hi OP. Long time player, not my first reply.

I use the Training grounds every time I mod my Mech. It gives me the time I need to check ammo, groups, heat ,and Alpha efficiency. I would love to have some AI bots firing back for maneuvering practice.

I have only used the Testing Grounds for one thing: to check weapon damage and mech hit-boxes.

The most annoying thing about it is you may walk around for a long, long time to find the kind of target you are looking for. There should be more of them.

Not new.

I use it a lot. It is very useful after putting together a mech to setup weapon groups and macros. It is also useflu in guaging heat tolerance. I love that they added it.

AI bots shooting back as an option is kinda iffy. People would stay in there being Rambo instead of fighting real people.

Armor is a part of a mech's build, so i think it should be a feature of the training ground

I'm not new, and I use it occasionally.

Whenever I make a brand new 'Mech or completely refit its loadout, I use the Training Grounds to figure out the best way to set my weapon groups.

As well, I've used it with my Spider-5V to test out Alpine and Tourmaline and get a feel for the map, and I'll probably do that for all new maps from this point on.

I'd really like to see some simple AI - would help people learn how to use cover, their 'Mech's weak points, and whatnot. I'd also like to see the variants seen there buffed a bit, as many of them don't have armor values that reflect what you will meet on the battlefield.

I ALSO REALLY, REALLY WISH, THAT DEATHS IN THE TRAINING GROUND WOULDN'T COUNT. Because they do. I tried overheating once, and while my general K/D didn't go down, I did get an additional death in the 'mech stats.

I use it for debugging the game client and learning how the game works without impacting live games.
