If this was not a F2P, I would have gone and purchased it anyways.

Do not need any stupid closed beta to buy it.

I buy the package only because I want to support the dev for making a modern mechwarrior game. Cuz the last official MW game was made 10 years ago.

Yeah I would want to buy it to support more Mechwarrior. Has little to do with the beta. After all its just a beta, not the official game. Of course F2P games seem to just treaty the beta as a ramp up.

Scince most battles in these pvp games devolve in to close range affairs I'm thinking Hunchback.
As far as mech warrior games go I think the first one i played on a computer was either on a
C-64 or a 286

MY HOPE: I sincerely hope that the decision of which mech to get for the founders is not made until launch (August?), AFTER we have all had a chance to play around for a month in the final stages of beta and see which chassis we like best.

F2P until this game proves its not all talk. Friends of mine - dedicated Battletech players - all expressed severe reservations about a company thats charging for access to a beta - its as if they're hedging their bets against financial catastrophy, just in case this game tanks. That thought has made me very gunshy about spending any money for this game.

since this is one of maybe 50 or more betas i applied for in my life, i know that you just CANNOT EXPECT to get a CBT key... anybody who whines about that deserves not to get one

so yes (if we get more info about EU and founders pack) i´m gonna buy it...

The problem with Free-to-play games is that unlike a normal sales where you recoup all your costs in the first three months or so of sales (hopefully), you are much more likely to have a long trickle of income. If someone like me might end up spending 60 dollars over the next four years playing their game, it is in their interest to convince me to give them all of that money up front.

The company is probably in debt at this point, and either needs to pay off loans or show returns to investors. This is the best way they can do that. Completely normal business decision.

If for no other reason than to help support the devs to give them some cash to work with while the game catches on with the masses.

you and your friends should maybe be aware of the fact that this is just a normal thing... you dont pay for beta, you get EARLY ACCESS ON THE OPEN BETA... 99,99% of preorders nowadays give you early access...this is the first game i hear ppl cry about that...

As much as I dislike the stunt pulled with Artemis, I can see myself getting alot more out of the Founders pack, so I will be buying it.

I was planning to buy the elite package, but after that Artemis marketing stunt, I'm now undecided.

I am torn personally. I want to spend the 60$. Game Developers that can afford to eat make better games I think lol.

But I really want to see what I am buying before I spend 60$

Screenshots and videos are nice....

Demo's and Beta's are better.....

The 60 is not even an issue, it is whether the game is worth the 60 that is, Don't get me wrong I am bloody salivating at the screen shots and videos. It looks awesome, But all the looks in the world don't make up for the car if it has a lemon of an engine. So I really find myself wanting to testdrive before I buy.

I look at it this way: If I take one night I would have been at the bar, and instead spend it playing MWO, I already break even (as long as I don't foolishly order delivery while I'm playing )

Liar!!!

Were Gamers and mechwarrior fans, we don't go to bars. Bars are for social people who don't sit sround thinking about what a AC20 would do to the guy singing karaoke who shouldn't be ;)

I'm buying because I'm crazy about battletech/mech stuff. I'm not normal about it. I don't know how else to put it.
