Long Range fire support. Probably going to go with a Catapult for my founder's mech.

Commander role. Heavies and Assaults to give me staying power. From the looks of this thread, not a whole lot of people like my kind of role, lol. I have a Lance put together and the most Experiance with BT/MW out of them. So I was the logical choice to bark orders.

Flanking hit-and-run attacks are what I do best so I guess it would be a hunter/killer-type medium or a speedy heavy.

Unfortunately none of the Founder Mechs fit that role at all.

Slow ponderous assault, slow campy heavy, slow brawler medium, quick versatile scout.

Honestly it's hard to say at this point.

I tend to gravitate towards positions that i think aren't being filled. I'm more of a "play for the win" kind of player.

So i'll probably just tool around a bit at launch, learning the maps and just playing with everything. Then after i've seen what's what, i'll settle on a couple of different mechs, and get serious.

I'll likely go for a Support/Recon role. Have always favored mediums, lights and the occasional heavy. I do enjoy sneaking about and a recon mech would be perfect for that (especially with a Beagle Active Probe and ECM Suite). A Raven for example. Assuming the "Founders Mech" is limited to the 4 they mentioned I'll likely take the Hunchback to fill a support role, a Centurion or Raven if its more than those 4 as I doubt my favorite 'mech, the Hatchetman, will be in the game at launch.

Either Medium Scout (Cicada) or Medium support (if I can turn a Centurion into a Whitworth).

Utility scout (Raven) or straight up brawler.

I'm going to play as an offensive scout, running around harassing the slow assault players on the opposing team and blowing the enemy scouts to smithereens. :)

Not really sure yet.. leaning towards scout or heavy, medium to short range brawler. If I was actually in an organized group, I would probably go command, but I am lone wolfing it at the start (at least that is my intention at this point in time) It is really going to depend upon what roles are overpopulated and what roles are sparsely populated (and what mechs and potential variants/rebuilds are available to me at the start with the elite founders package)--not really an long-range indirect fire or support type, though.

Back in MW4 I specialized in driving a Loki and killing assault mechs :), can't do that yet in MWO... can probably find a similar setup and role here.

I figure like World of Tanks many people will find themselves to be better at one role compared to another. I think I'd like to play scout and work on helping others get missile locks and generally providing good intel on the battlefield.

Fluid here. My priority is on working as a lance. Communications and coordinations. We bring force onto the enemy collectively. To that end, I find myself in Heavies because of their punishing firepower and "better than worst" speed. They also have decent armor and maneuverability to keep themselves in the fight longer.

To that end I see myself as:

20% Scouting Role (always work to spot enemies; knowledge of position is very powerful)
70% Offensive Role (primarily work to bring weapons onto the enemy; prefer to engage at range, and will always have weapons to at least deal with those who close in on me)
10% Command Role (though calling me a "follower" is not really accurate, I'm a team-player, who works towards the current goal coordinated by the lance leader) In the event of his demise, I often step into a command role to keep the team focused.

Well, theres two answers to this:

In WoT my preferences are similar to other games I like to play - I like to stand off and fight from a distance. Like in CounterStrike or Silent Hunter I like to hit from cover, at distance - so my garage is primarily stocked with TDs and SPGs. I do like to try everything, though, which is why I've also got the KVs and an IS-8 for the joy of heavy, and a 13-90 for the scouting and hunter/killer roles. And I intend on going medium when the Brits finally come out.

However, I've heard mention of a role playing aspect to this game - havent seen any specifics - but if the Kurita style is one way, I may try to adopt it as my own. My in-game character is something of a fanatical Samuri sort - but that doesnt discout using distanced arms like LRMs. So I dont know how that will work into my ultimate play style.
