Tourmaline Desert

Maybe it is a great map, maybe it is not. This thread is not to discuss that. It is to state than I would like a little (or a lot) more variety. Endlessly looping desert is not as fun as truly random maps.
Thanks

I don't see it in rotation any more/less than any other map.
Legit gripe is so 2 weeks ago.

They are probably gathering as much data as they can to add some terrain tweaks.

Tourmaline Desert 128
Alpine Peaks 74
Forest Colony 58
So I can't help but agree with the OP. It is a fun map, though.

I like the map, but I'm ready for it to go back into regular rotation.

Agree I'm ready for normal chance, although there's something to be said for balancing big maps/small maps.
Long term expect more big maps, or possibly even a size increase on the current small maps. So the current map balance is a very small beta issue imo.
They said a while ago that tourma was the last core texture pack and now maps should come faster.

If I never play Alpine again, that would be fine with me. That map needs a LOT of work IMO.

So, your gripe is that you play it too much even though it is, hands down, the best map we have? This, people, is the problem with the self entitled youth of today. Even when the lunch is free, they still complain about it.

They already stated they are not going to go back and overhaul the old maps. They might make a little tweak here or there, but not *redoing* the old ones.

That actually isn't true. In the Ask The Devs #33, they said that they were going to expand River City, Frozen City, and Forest Colony to support 12v12. Then they contradicted themselves in Ask The Devs #35 by saying that they weren't going to change the maps. Now, you can take that as that they're not going to fix any of the current issues and expand them or that they'll just leave them small as they are now and not allow 12v12 on them. They could keep these maps as skirmish maps for those people not wanting to participate in Community Warfare. But, to leave 3 maps small and not part of their expanded vision for the game seems wrong. So, I'm inclined to think that they will expand the maps but won't make any major changes to the layout. Alex, in a premade a few months ago, even said that they were going to expand them but he didn't know how they were going to do it. Who knows, though? They waffle on so many things, depending on when the question is asked, that you never know what they're really thinking.

First, I never said either way whether it is the best or not. IMO it is not good.
Second, not a youth, nor entitled. Although I have paid more for this game than any other game in my 23 years of gaming. So for it to be as fun as possible would be nice.

Community Consolidated Question 3: What are you doing to combat aimbots/hacking/removing map assets?
A: We have telemetry currently tracking all of the major cheats. We have a selection of fixes coming in during the next 6 months to address the largest offenders. As for removing maps, we have two changes. One locks a player’s `Mech in a match until it concludes, and we will be doing a verification scan during the patcher. These will help to minimize and finally remove the ability to remove assets from the PAK files.
Obviously this is considered a cheat if not a hack. Plus you gimp your team soo... bad form.

True enough. What I was trying to point out is that what the devs say about the direction of this game is extremely fluid. Its like trying to get a woman to make up her mind: they'll go in whatever direction feels right at the moment.

I was being sarcastic. I personally love Tourmaline as it is 100x better than the original 4 maps. But a lot of that comes on play style. I prefer having the room to roam. I don't like maps where you can blast someone at their starting point from your starting point (ie Forest Colony and River City). And being able to hop on the opponent's base within 45s of game launch is absurd. Tourmaline offers a lot of options. Alpine could have done the same but it is a bit TOO open.
