Heavy Metal = Metallica - Amusingly I have not actually listened to Metallica while piloting this mech, mostly sticking to Judas
Priest.

Blackjack = Shadowkitten - It's build, once complete, will emulate the clan Shadow Cat. Name was stolen from someone in my Faux Shadow Cat thread.

I like to give my mechs names after ancient weapons or military maneuvers. My raven 2X (my first and true love) is named the Longbow because I fitted it with an LRM 15. My misery is the Zweihander because it is a brick of a mech with 4 ppc's making for a heavy handed but slow hit. I also have the premium jager named guisarme, and a second normal one I call the rumrunner just for the fun of it.

I tend to name my mechs with whatever pops into my mind when I purchase them.

Names like 'Shadowfox' for my Jenner/ soon-to-have Locust, 'Stormcrow' for the Raven, 'Winterwolf' in honor of my brother, who I feel a Jager suits best.
For my personal, current prize Mech (K-2 Catapult) I've named 'Spiritbear'. I might give this name to the Clan Kodiak if it ever gets released.

I named my dragon slayer 'Victor Sr.'

Other than that the only mech name I changed was to add an -X1 to the end of my stalker designation since I knew I was modifying the loadout on it fairly seriously.

Something I love to do in Classic Battletech is name the Pilots with a reffrence to the mech it self, So alot of my mech's names are influenced by that,
