Wouldn't the hit points of everything need to be doubled as well to compensate? I know to some it would be nice if their guns didn't blow up instantly from a love tap.

doubling hit points of the parts would simply put them at 2 since they were simply destroyed when crit in TT.

This.
Actual engine damage has yet to be implemented. It is confusing because in your death report it lists cause of death as "engine destroyed" but in reality it means "torso location destroyed".
When engine crits are introduced it will still not lead to the destruction of the mech. More likely it will lead to reduced speed, handling, heat dissipation or another effect to aid immersion.

Actually, an XL engine proves you wrong on all counts there. Since any part of the XL engine gets destroyed you are considered dead. So when a critical hit occurs on the engine, dead mech since you know, the engine powers your mech and you can't start a match with a mech that has no engine.

Engine critical hits are not currently implemented in the game. The only way to die by engine destruction is to lose a torso.

In the game, all that matter with XLs is losing the torso. You can have crits happen to your engine without losing the torso and you'd still be alive. All that matters currently is torso loss. Devs have stated this many times.

The only thing you die from (except headshots) is when the engine's torso location is destroyed which of cause destroys the engine as well.

Again you missed the part about the XL engine. If you lose any part of the torso R/L/CT the result is your mech is destroyed. That is because the engine is destroyed. Your mech doesn't keep going if your RCT is blown off on an XL mech. This would be the same result if/when engine critical hits can occur and the engine is destroyed.

Again doesn't matter as the XL engien already proves what will happen. When any torso part is destroyed R/L/CT, the engine is destroyed and the mech is destroyed as well. The point might be valid if an XL engined mech could keep running even if it lost either it's left or right center torso or both and keep running like a Standard engine mech.

No, it's because you lose a side torso. You can't damage the engine itself right now.

You can have crits hit your XL all day (and technically destroy it) and yet if your torso is intact you will still be alive. The torso has to be destroyed for you to die. Engine crits do not matter at all.

If English is not your first language, you should probably avoid getting into debates in English where some level of reading comprehension is necessary to participate.

The only way to destroy an engine is to destroy a component that they are equipped in. (R/L Torso, Center Torso) You cannot destroy an engine by "crit" damage without destroying that component.
You could give 1000x more health, it will make absolutely no difference when it comes to destroying them.

I didn't miss anything. I said that the only way to die by engine destruction is to lose a torso. That was not a false statement. What type of engine you run affects which torsos you can or cannot lose before engine destruction occurs.
