Every mech? Can any mech?

I frequently use the greater arm mobility, and jump jets, to shoot at targets, most commonly (but not exclusively) with the Cataphract. If those targets are below me and too close however, I just have to ballpark it because I can't really see anything.

No, it's true. They can't see/aim straight up.

Very true.

Not even this enemy can shoot my Catapult. I can dance on him, and then shoot him in the face when I hop off.

Once I JJ'd up on top of an enemy mech and got stuck there. We each took damage as we tried to get free until we died. It must have looked hilarious to everyone else.

You can do some crazy stuff with JJs.

Why? Who says? Sometimes assault class mechs could easily have issues seeing things directly below them. Doesn't seem so far-fetched.

Me in a spider vs atlas, last mechs in the game, atlas was pretty fresh, jumped on a building and accidentally landed on his head, rode him around for a minute or two like a rodeo trying to shoot him with the arm lasers...

Imagine four Highlander riding into battle on four Lights at 150KPH.

Wonder if that is possible.

DFA is seen as a crazy, last ditch strategy for several reasons. Not being able to see your target and taking leg damage springs to mind.

O rly , how many times you do that successfully?

So far twice, but I've never had one face-hugging me. It's a bit harder when they're running around.

Have you brought some mediums or lights to cover that blind spot of yours? <_< Your team can help with that,

Not really. In the books and lore they actually hardened legs on Mech who could do DFA. Thus it is a recognized first line strategy. It is not last ditch.

yup yup, afaik Highlander was specifically designed to DFA, with reinforced legs, and feet designed to absorb the impact, knock down and crush the head and or cockpit.

Wait till collisions are put back in.

Run them over. I can't wait for the amount of rage that's going to come from all the light pilots when that eventually happens.

Not entirely. It was a 90 ton mech that could jump. According to the Lore: the desigers 'knew' that any pilots (read: players) that had a mech that big that could jump would use it to DFA. So they supposedly 'reinforced' the legs to be able better withstand the rigors of it.

Easy solution: Mech Calisthenetics!

Every match at the beginning stand still and move your torso up and down a few dozen times, try to touch your toes, for about 3-4 minutes. After a few weeks, you`ll see a marked improvement, and depending on what you feed your mech, you should be able to see your toes eventually. ;)

Yes Griffin (longrange 55 Ton Mech PPC and LRM) Pilots tended to wreck their ankle joints in DFA,
so the next Jumpcapable Mechs (Highlander) got the Reinforcement directly when builded,
which led to the "Highlander Burial" Maneuver.

I think when we get the Rear Mirror Camera and the Zoom Camery we will ge the good old Food Camera as well. Since PGI needs to figure it out how it works with crisis, we don't have it.

Btw, simple run full Speed through a Light Mech, have legged some Ravens in my Cat with it.
You are heavier, so the Light will get Leg damage when you march through him.

Most of what I've seen, the Highlanders fatal flaw is sitting IN the cockpit.
