I was at Gen Con too, luckily while i was waiting in line they got more cards and i grabbed a pack along with the AS book. :)

Also keep your eyes open, Solaris Skunk Works is working on being able to print AS cards of custom mechs too. Can't wait!!

Just wanted to mention that someone had remodeled and 3D printed versions of the MWO models at PAX this year, they were scaled perfectly for the tabletop game and looked great. Here's to hoping Catalyst Game Labs can license MWO's mech designs for use on the tabletop.

Quite literally, one of the major reasons why my gaming group aren't bothering with Alpha Strike and Battletech in general are all the old, crappy looking designs. Nostalgia only carries you so far, and battletech, while it stays around in the consciousness, isn't really growing.

i'm new to BT as a tabletop game (just collected miniatures to paint them and to put them in a showcase)
i was familiar with MWDA and bought the BT mater rules
the BTMR are quite complex, but nothing i couldn't handle...yet i would like to show my friends the BT tabletop game and i know that the BTMR would be far to complicated to be fun for them

will the alpha strike rules be easy enough for a quick and "fast paced" gaming evening?
because i'm looking for a "casualized" ruleset

I haven't seen the rules for Alpha Strike yet but every thing I've read seems to indicate that "quick and fast paced" is the whole idea behind The new rules. Once I get the rule book I might post a write up.

PS here is what the Alpha Strike Unit Card for the Atlas looks like. Pretty simple isn't.
