So is it in the DEVS line of site aimed,To introduce all of the battlemechs ever created?

So as the game/website sates 1 day is 1 day in the Mechwarrior Universe...
So that being that.
  • Over time are you going to make/introduce every battlemech?
  • If not... I think the DEVS are shooting them selfs in the leg, In regards to making a Mechwarrior game.
  • So as the MW lore be what is.... Will it be followed to the tee or close enough?
  • (DEVS) You could even introduce experimental/new battlemechs for the first time in many years, After you release all the present ones yet to be introduced.

  • Over time are you going to make/introduce every battlemech?

No. Many mechs would be redundant based on hardpoints. Plus mechs with less than 3 distinct variants will probably not make it into the game either. Same with the Unseen. So there is actually not as many mechs to make as you might think.

I want to see every team in MWO drop with 8 Omegas, each equipped with 5 Gauss Rifles.

Let the hillhumping commence.

Considering they're a Jihad design (if not post-Jihad) that's highly unlikely.

The Gausszilla is more likely, though, IIRC. It's just an Annihilator carrying five gauss rifles...

Same with the Unseen.

All of the 'Mechs in the game are different enough from the original artwork that they could be classified as different 'Mechs. The so-called Unseens will be in the game ... they'll just be based on the Project Phoenix artwork instead of the original designs.

Back when this was Mechwarrior 5 Harmony Gold already threatened legal action over their Warhammer.

Yes all the mechs. Of all timelines. With all techs. Let us be free in our choices so that we might smite each other righteously.

In somewhat seriousness, I hope they make up variants rather than let some mechs be ignored because of only 2 variants or w/e.

Unseen, way out of time and Quad mechs they won't make. Redundant hardpoints isn't a reason not to include a chassis.

No coverage of the majority of mechs? shame.

Racing car games are succesfull for the variety of vehicles to use and MWO has that same potential.

I'm sure the devs know what they're doing :)

Sure it is. You would only pilot the mech with the better profile and the other would be a waste.

People have been saying this since the game was announced.

There is already some duplication of hard points. Moreover, the listed hard points are not the same as the in game hard points. C4 cat and A1 cat for example.

I was unaware the C4 had 6 missile hard points. Or is it the A1 that has 2 energy? :(

This is not an example of duplication. The Dervish and Kintaro on the base variant have 4 missile and 2 energy. Both are 55 tons. But one has JJ and the other doesn't. So you could make a Kintaro out of a Dervish, but not the other way around. So Dervish is obviously the way to go if you had the choice between them. (this is just an example since I really don't know offhand where the weapons are located on the mechs.)

But if they are going to change the artwork that much.. why even bother as i am sure you can find the same harpoint layout in other mechs... Also IIRC the devs said NO to the unseen/reseen as i guess they felt it was better to focus on the designs that FASA owned full and clear.

So let's look at a few "unseen" candidates

Locust: Take the flea and you are done.
Stinger: Spider.. will not be carrying a gunpod but else pretty close after you leave a few ton open.
Wasp: Take a commando and leave 5 tons open on it
Valkyrie: Currently lacking good alternative
Phoenix Hawk: No exact match at this point, closest match is a treb with 5 ton open but you have to pick between jumpjest or machine-guns.
Crusader: A Jagermech pretty much works as a replacement for this
Falcon: Spider works very well.
Ostroc: Use a dragon. drop the balistic
Ostscout: ROTFLMAO
Stone Rhino: Lacks good match
Archer: Lacking a mech in the proper weightclass with missile HP
Marauder: Lacking a mech at it's weightpoint.
Warhammer: no matching hardpoitn layout at this point.
Rifleman: Jaegermech, skim some ton of the top.
Longbow: Stalker
Shadownhawk: Lack a mech in the proper tonnage
Griffin: See above
Wolverine: See above
Thunderbolt: Jaegermech work for some versions.
Battlemaster: Lacking proper hardpoint setup
Hellhound: HBK-4SP
Glass Spider: Cataphract - a few ton
Baboon: Underweight Commando
Bane: I think it will be unlikley to see a mech with 14 B HP
Goshawk: Still no 55 ton mech
Viper: Lacking mech in proper tonnage
Vixen: No mathing hardpoints at this time.

So while you can not make all the unseen a good chunk fo themc an be made with the current offering and since the argument is thsat the looks does not matter... Get cracking you crazy kids.

They aren't limiting the number of mechs based on the desire to limit mechs, its simply a matter of time and economics. It takes a long time to make a mech and a whole lot of money. A year from now we will probably see a whole lot of mechs (say a dozen, maybe more). If this game continues to be successful for the next few years we will probably see most of the most popular mechs from the 3025 and 3050 TROs in the game (except the Unseen of course).

Since about half the Unseen have machine guns maybe it's best they aren't in game. After all, they would just end up being AC/20's.

Don't be obstreperous. Its an example of the hard points being different than the stock would suggest. You can find similar hard points with the CN9-D and the TBT-7K.
