We know that fixing advanced zoom is currently not possible due to engine limitations.
I suggest that advanced zoom simply gives you x4 zoom, implemented in the same way that it currently is for existing zoom levels - i.e. full screen zoom.
This makes it useful yet not overpowered and avoids the whole technical difficulty Cry Engine is having with the picture in picture zoom.

I don't know why they didn't do this a long time ago. Why they need to have a PiP that doesn't work i'll never know.

I have since discovered a reason for it being PIP:
Even though it is showing you 4x zoom, it is using your mouse sensitivity from the unzoomed level, which means you have much more control over it in your PIP zoom than you would even in 3x zoom, let alone 4x.
Doesn't explain why it looks like total garbage, but that's why it's in PIP.

Yes please!
Before this module existed, our normal zoom went to 4x, and it was perfect.
Then they released the it, lowered our max zoom level, and gave us this grainy pip useless module.
