I don't know why people complain about optional features that don't change anything about the game. Relax dude. Don't buy it.

For me, the idea of the community being allowed to participate in designing some content (even in a small way) Is awesome. So what if you're not interested in this particular content. The principal of the thing ROCKS. I will probably buy the mech just to encourage PGI to do more of the same.
im not complaining because I don't want new content but they could have put better thought into this champion mech idea. Or at least come right out and said this was their idea instead of sugar coating it in the trial mech contest lol.

And I'm sorry but taking someone's custom built mech and slapping a 5% boost of any kind on it and then having the nerve to say you can't get it unless you spend only real money for it... Just does not scream Champion to me. So the mech was picked from a COMMUNITY event that we all took part in... New players and vets. But now the Champion mech is made as an MC only mech? For what... To basically say oh you new players that we want to play our game and have a great experience with a great new mech, yeah you want it? Than spend real money lol. Yeah that's one way to tell the community thanks for all your help in a community event :D

No. In fact, he'll have to buy it twice the MC cost. :D

They never said anything, so it's easier to assume he won't.

Pull your heads from the dark holes you have them stuffed in and look at who the Champion mechs are targeted at.

Stupid thread makes about as much sense as asking who needs trial mechs because you personally already own a bunch. :D

The thing i think is funny is why not just come out and say "hey guys we have an idea on how to add in custom community created mechs that we want to call Champion mechs that will have a small XP boost." And come right out and explain how and why you want to add something like this. No... They go the trial mech rought... Have us vote on a winner and then use the new player base as a defining factor on if they like it or not to than say TADA! It's your Champion mech lol. Just skip the whole trial mech ploy and tell us what you're intending instead of sneaking it in like that lol.

And now even if new players liked it and wanted it because they got to use it as a trial mech, they can't use it anymore unless they buy it with real money? LMAO!!! Come on PGI... Stop it!

Your last question makes no sense. If new players liked it and wanted it they can buy a 5N with C-bills and kit it out the same, also with C-bills. No need to spend MC unless they want the XP boost the Champion version comes with.

the thread makes a lot a sense. If you want to buy a Dragon 5N with MC fine but to spend twice as much MC on the Champion version that only comes with an extra 5% XP boost? Anyone would be crazy to go for that deal.

I've not been playing long but the "sales" in this game are stupid - crap variants nobody wants. See last weekend assault mech sale.

PGI needs to take a page from planetside 2; daily half price sales on random items (or 2 if you are on premium time) and its half price mc AND c-bill.

I've actually posted up about this very same point about random sales on crap variants and promptly my thread was moved to off-topic - and now someone's who's relatively new to the game has pointed it out!

Common PGI you can do better!

Better get used to it mate - "working as PGI intended!". I actually also said that the sale should also apply equally to the C-Bills price - why not? Not everyone wants to pay MC - especially for the crap variants - allow the newbs opportunity to buy their own mech a bit faster - with either MC/C-Bills - but making most the sales MC only really is just cranking up the dollar making machine, when it's already hard enough for the newbs to grind up enough C-Bills to get started ...

thats the point i was trying to make lol. I mean what if the new players did want this mech with the boost? Why can't they buy it with C-bills?

And maybe someone can help but I thought I remember reading somewhere that champion mechs were going to be both MC and C-bill purchasable?

I'll probably grab one along with a Flame & Fang, since I have no Dragons to level up & master yet. I'll probably wait until 1 goes on sale to grab all three, though. Gotta level up Stalkers & Highlanders next, woohoo!

Back when I was grinding Dragons for Master this might have made sense. It is always the xp delay on Master. I cbilled the Dragons saving my MC for the Ilya. If it was available then I might have bought both. I do really like the Ilya. Made a lot of $$ on the way up. I like these ideas.
Haven't priced them yet but twice the MC price seems high if true. Still could be worth the cost. They should put out more and if they sell win for all.

Champion BattleMechs
We’ve decided to add a new style of Hero BattleMech, one that represents the community – the Champion. Similar in nature to the Founder's BattleMechs, a Champion `Mech is based of an existing variant with a special permanent 5% XP boost and lower price point. Our first Champion BattleMech will be revealed on April 12th.

Its a Dragon 5N with 2 large lasers and a gauss rifle.
Fun fact: You can buy a 5n, 2 large lasers and a gauss rifle with c-bills.

At least try to make sense when you post stuff like this.

It has to have more than a mere xp boost. That only gets you to master, then a minuscule gxp bonus. Yes crap! Also a crappy varient, why not wait for the mech you want with the boost?

Edit: however, it might be a joke to long time players but a push for new players to buy. However, why the dragon? Cause new players are that stupid?

I bet the person who designed this mech is very happy to have it labled champion. I can not belive that people are complaining about spending MC for a bonus you can not obtain on any other mech. It is not something you must have, but if you have disposable income it is a no brainer that a new player would want to grab one.
