I've done the build with ER PPC torso and 2 ML in the arm. It works great, though I would stick with streaks for 8 man play.

For 8 drops I would just use my Com 2D cuz it's so OP...

You will get eaten alive by other lights with that build...you'd be better off with 1ERLL, 2SSRM, 1Med, 1Sm, it runs a bit hot but it allows you to do something at every range.

I actually really didn't like using the generic streak style 3L when I went through my 3L. I also didn't want to spend any real cbills on the 3L 'cause I just didn't like it as much as other 'mechs. This was back before the PPC buff but

This is what I ran.
If I remember rightly, I had a group with the ER (for the really close and really long shots), a group with the standard for general purpose ('cause when that thing generated full heat, and you only have 10 DHS, you really need to be careful with your heat), a group with both for when I wanted the burst, and I think I also had a group with both chained for a little extra heat and a little extra leeway in hitting those things faster than me..

Deffffinitely. Stick a single ppc or ll of some sort on there, and have fun. Makes for great poptarting, sniping, escorting, baiting, a 5D spider does every thing better than a cheese [streaks/mls] raven except for actually killing people.

Here is that 3L.... You could swap out a ton of ammo for a DHS, both are pretty justifiable. Anyway, would be good times without 300ping PPCs being worthless.

You must not have read the patch notes. PPCs are affected by the HSR up to 450 ping.

Typical? Typical of what? Maybe typical of every light mech pilot who doesn't want one mech variant to completely dominate an entire weight class? Of having to explain every match why he is running something other than a 3L?
