Hello,

Recently in matches I've been getting some really strange trouble; I'll "warp" around a bit as I move; Sometimes when I zoom in with Z, the game won't actually zoom for me for several seconds (but not always; sometimes it's instant) or will otherwise behave erratically. I'll fire my gauss sometimes and see the firing effects from the barrel, but the shot will streak out anywhere from 4-20 seconds later - usually into the back of an ally. It's not even consistent within the match itself; sometimes it's like this and other times it is fine. This is in my highlander, so it's not a speed thing either (at least for the warping around)

The reason I put this in patch feedback is because I almost always have <50 ping and it was -never- like this before with the same internet. I play tons of games online and experience no symptoms of lag, and I've never seen anything like this before. I have every reason to believe that my connection is fine, but I'm getting these crazy lag symptoms and the only thing I can think that hasn't been consistent is MWO's version.

As far as hardware, I'm using a GTX 670 and a 3570k; it's not a hardware problem.

I'd search, but the search features isn't working ;).

Anyone know what's going on?

Multiple people have been having this issue to some degree. It started with the last major patch. I have 20-30 ms ping and it happens to me sometimes and I have a high end rig as well. As far as I can tell it is should sort of server side issue.

Thanks for the reinforcement; Just glad to see it isn't just me. I was worried about my internet for a while there xD

This is where one can have a very good ping but if there is severe packet loss, the only indication of that is the rubberbanding, shots being delayed, etc.

What needs to be added to the FPS is a ping/packet loss indicator, at least something similar what is used in Everquest.

Many times this has been happening, and not in the latest patch but it's months that you can experience rubberbanding. Either the ping is stable or has huge peaks, not depending from your line whatsoever.

Someone else said they got "known issue; NO ETA onfix".

Who knows.

I can confirm this has been happening to me too. I had no issues before I took a long break from MWO, and I also have a high end rig. It's pretty obvious it's lag and not a client FPS drop. My latency is in the 20's, but the lag is incredible, especially when I spectate.

I am having a similar problem only when targeting fast moving lights. They do not not seem to be warping exactly, but my framerate is stuttering badly only when shooting at a light closeby, even if there is only one. Its incredibly annoying; spiders are hard enough to hit as it is!

I've been experiencing the rubberbanding and zoom issues on assaults as well as lights the last week or two.

I've had this for the last few weeks too, to the point where I can't really play in a light mech or anything too fast. It's annoying even in my Dragons at 90kph. I assumed it was my ISP just having a bad few weeks, added to the fact I ping around 110ms anyway because I'm in the UK. It used to be silky smooth though, not so long ago too. Hopefully they'll fix it in the next patch :P

Same here.

My ping is usually around 60ms. But it will suddenly jump to near 160ms every minute or so and my mech will suddenly be pointing in a odd direction.

Funniest thing is that if I had just fired a weapon it still hits the mech I used to be facing...lol.

Very aggravating if you thought you were walking down a alley and suddenly blink and your really face first in a building.
Just say for those devs out there that is is not fun.

While my current ping is in the region of 100 to 180, and my old ping im sure was around 60-120..that higher ping is still easily playable and wont impact performance in MWO.

but...

The rubberbanding ..weapon lag ..and teleporting is really getting on my nerves, its not as bad as that damnable colorfull graphic bug that requires me to tab out every time it pops up (usualy mid battle) ..but its still aggrivating. I hope PGI sorts this server side issue out becouse it will eventualy stop me from playing for good if it gets left as is.

I have been having the same issues ... game is unplayable with the amount of rubberbanding going on. I think it has something to do with Nvidias GPUs though almost everyone that I have seen having this problem. has a GTX something or other. I have a GTX 560. Also it could be a driver issue. I had the kaleidoscope vision updated my drivers and it was replaced with rubberbanding.

I've experienced similar problems, but I'm using an ATi GPU.

I'm still having this issue as well. ~60 ping, and I will teleport between 30-500m away in a random direction, and occasionally I will teleport straight up into the air.

Other issues that share the same source are a massive delay in firing time with every weapon but lasers (those will fire, but damage won't register), zoom, and vision mode changes. All of these functions either lag 2-3 seconds, or will completely fail to engage.

I used to get it only on Forest Colony, both.
Then it switched to Frozen City.
Now it is every map.

I really hate when I get messages such as, "Right Torso Destroyed," but I see no one shooting me.
Plus when I see myself shooting someone a lot, game ends and I am told I only did 5 damage or so.

Really, I am going to have to wait to see what tomorrow's patch does.

im playing from the Philippines, where typically the best lag one could get would be ~180ms, though for the past 2 months it has been around 300ms. I know this is far from ideal, but before the last patch I have been able to target and hit mechs with ACs pretty decently with a bit of lead. My internet connection hasnt changed, my upload/download speed is still good, but I keep on getting similar issues as said by Seox. For me its a game breaker... my Dragon used to a decent performance even when using autocannon, but now even using LRMS and streaks are useless. I experience these since the last patch 2 weeks ago:

1. Rubberbanding for up to a minute in a match
2. 2-3second firing delay between the time I click and the time the shot (energy, ballistics) comes out. note that the muzzle flash from UAC/5 does not have delay, only the slug and sound.
3. LRMS take around 4-5 seconds to come out. usually the lock is gone by that time and the missiles still try to go where I last locked
4. weapons fire much faster at longer ranges, but they do not register (target is around 1200 meters but LLs dont do damage when they should at least have some effect).

I have a fairly decent rig, though its far from high end, but I know this isnt an issue by my rig as I havent changed anything at all, I am using an MSI GTX460 cyclone, on windowed 1280x900 (dont want full screen as it becomes more likely that I will end up with black screen from back then, havent tried it now).

The patch I was able to play the most decently before this was the 2nd to the last patch (highlander patch). if this keeps up, id rather not play than just become cannon fodder all the time.

@ Syllogy: for me even lasers have the same weapons delay. Back then lasers did not have the problem, and the delay for ballistics could still be compensated by leading the shot.

Las I am in the Philippines too and have the same situation. I was able to make a ticket and while support was very helpful, there is little he could do and management wouldn't agree to refund premium time as they declare this game state to be playable.

As someone who has spent good money on my account and my brother's (yes I funded his account), this is really bad business ethics from PGI. I have lost about $13 worth in premium time since the April 2 patch.
