Not much of a point in focusing on balance until all the weapons are working with the network properly, which will be soon.

Hopefully.

I don't really understand why they didn't give state rewind to SRMs

Is there any way for you to put the MC and C-bill cost of new mechs when you announce them in the patch notes?

Why the hell would they base weapons around people with 450 pings? Cater to those that do not upkeep their connections or attempt to play video games on 200 foot wireless systems? It's much easier to hit the lower ping mechs, people actually throttle their pings up to exploit such things, best example is the lag compensation in the valve games.

Lets give more reason to do so?! Really?

What gives you the impression that they're somehow "basing weapons" around people with low ping? Do you even understand what they're talking about?

Before this system, the server wouldn't take into account what you were seeing: It only took into account the "actual" positions of the mechs (which, depending on both your ping and their ping, could be quite different than what you were seeing).

Now, when you shoot, the server looks at what you were seeing, and it determines whether you made the shot based on that information.

Do you understand now?

If we "talk up" the idea of increased XP's for folks following orders/giving orders that might really help. I remember playing the
original Planetside years ago. The people who "won" were the organized groups who knew each other and cooperated. Everyone else did their own thing, and usually got their butts kicked! LOL! But alot of people don't like taking orders......

The Highlander looks kind of disappointing. At this point I think I'll save my c-bills. I was really hoping for a variant with a ballistic hardpoint in each side torso, but no such luck. I'm not sure I see a variant that appears to bring a useful new capability.

The mech does have jump jets, but what to do with that capability? I'm not sure whether you'll be able to poptart with it since it only mounts a max of 3 jets. Even if you can however, the 732 will be the best choice as you should be able to roll 3 ERPPCs and a gauss rifle. Still, your damage only exceeds what a 3D can acheive by 5 points, and while it also has a bit more armor, what it gives up is damage focus against strafing targets, since the gauss and the PPCs lack the same velocity, and that's a critical concession.

As a brawler, I don't see a variant that makes the mech capable of standing toe to toe with an Atlas nor a Stalker...or perhaps not even an Awesome for that matter. I know we're all looking forward to eventually being able to DFA an enemy, but I think we all realize that such a capability, while fun, will hardly be decisive in most matches.

Ya, exactly like the lag compensation in the valve games, where a 500 ping sniper shoots you 10 feet around a corner because you saw him, ducked right away, and are now moving onto other endeavors when suddenly, BAM headshot 5 seconds later well out of sight because his pc registered a headshot to the server, this is the basis for MANY of the aimbots, so good luck with your greater understanding.

Catering to high pings is not good, nor is the defense of such.

You were in his line of sight for exactly the same amount of time each way, weren't you? It's not giving him an advantage: He would have made the shot anyway if he had normal ping.

I'd rather have that than have my shots not register because the server thought the mech was somewhere else.

You can't have it both ways.

Exactly.

No balance fixes...

Not big surprise. Balance seems to take the last place in the list of priorities.

I would rather the gameplay be unbalanced while they fix bugs. Balancing and tweaking is easy to do on the technical end compared to bug fixing. After core mechanics are polished and debugged is when I would start worrying about balance fixes. Remember, we're still testing the game for bugs, not neccessarily balance fixes yet.

I really hope this addresses the FPS issue. I haven't been able to play a decent game in two weeks.

I agree. This is probably the most important bugfix they need to address outside of the completely black screen bug. You can compensate for ballistic lag, you can work without a map, and you can play just fine with an incorrect ELO rating. But not if the game keeps rewinding you back every few seconds to where you were just at, warps you forward off a cliff you weren't intending to go to, or teleports your target all over the place.

If they fix the server side packet loss bug, I'll be happy to wait for the rest. If they don't, then all the other additions and changes are meaningless and a waste of the dev's time because people won't be able to use any of it.

Still no fix on joystick buttons not mapping (working in game) properly?? I know, low priority and all, BUT it was fine, then a patch ruined it . .. please fix it again.

I have same issue...last patch made several buttons on my controller/game pad unusable. Hope it gets fixed....but love what's included in this patch nevertheless.

Not going to even bother patching...

HUD bugs not fixed and only addressed with a post saying "gee whiz, bugs are really
hard to fix".

Pathetic.
