I can see no reason to buy a mech for an XP boost. A CBill boost makes sense. You can do stuff with CBills but, if you play for any length of time you will end up with all kinds of experience sitting around with nothing to do with it as it is. If you guys want to do these mechs with XP boosts, you need to add about a dozen skills to each mech that are a) Specific to the Mech ;) make a huge difference in game play and c) take some major experience to buy d) are only avalable after getting your master slot. Even then I would sooner have the cbill bonus as it would simply give me things to work towards on my mechs instead of having experience sitting around.

The champion mech concept is a waste of intelectual property IMO.

It doesn't take that long to grind out a mech's efficiencies, but grinding GXP is a pain in the butt. 10% more isn't enough to get me to buy for full price. On the other hand, if this champ dragon gets included in one of their 50% off sales later, I'd buy it. (that might say more about how much I love 50% off mech sales than how much I like this champion, though)

I think this was stupid. You allowed us to use this as a trial for weeks and now you're charging money for it? God that's dumb. Most people should have bought the 5N chassis for it's C-bill cost if they enjoyed it and then built the champion stuff into it.

You'd have been better off giving us that Cataphract 4X community mech instead.

Pointless. 10% XP boost should be an MC-purchasable module. Makes more sense. Everyone would buy one because they could put it on whatever mech they want. Some folks would buy 4 to have one on each of their 4 quicklaunch mechs. Others might buy one for each of their mechs. Either way, you make a heck of a lot more than you do with this waste of space Dragon standard variant that simply has it slapped on for no good reason and that most people won't bother spending MC on.

My opinion is that if you're going to be making champion mechs, don't trust the community of forum warriors to make these mechs, as they will come up with, and vote for, these broken designs.

This is not correct. See, PGI picked out the designs, and it happens that very few of the designs (just 2) were the best of the crap that was posted. So, it wasn't the forumwarrior's problem for the most part... one of the "choices" was an A1 with 2 SSRM2s, 2 SRM (of some #), and 2 LRM (of some #) that used 15 SHS!!! This is not a fault of the forumwarrior... rather the mech design choices AND PGI.

If you don't believe this, consult the following threads:
http://mwomercs.com/...cussion-thread/ - discussion about the contest
http://mwomercs.com/...y-edition-poll/ - the actual "final poll"
http://mwomercs.com/...al-mech-builds/ - the thread of spammed configs

Anyone who didn't realize that there was really bad choices in the selection process is more or less PGI's fault.. to a lesser extent, the players.

I tought two of my roomies how to play MWO - one of them prefered the awesome

....i dont think he ever used the small laser except when i told him to... but he did a good job with the 2 groups of PPCs after i showd him how do do weapon groups.

my other roommate liked the dragon 5n-c

neither one of them wanted to learn on a mech that had 3 weapons groups, so kudos to you for creating a trial mech that is easy to learn with.

after earning cbills, my friend who liked the awesome got a catapult k2, which he loads up with 2xLL and a gauss or 2xPPC and a gauss... he might have traded the gauss for an AC though...

my other roomie -who liked the dragon- has a cataphract 1x which now has 3 large lasers in the arms, and an AC10 in the torso.

notice both of them built mechs with 2 weapons groups. it really is the easiest way to learn.

I hope we see more 'easy to use' trial mechs in the future :)
