Some short research and a bit of imagination lead me to think this has something to do with Venus.

Venus is one of the 3 planets in the Sol system that is inhabited and even produces warships and was occupied by the Star League.

Also, check this cross-link with the main Artemis thread so you can see some of the photos. They look like landscape to me--and the curves we see are reminiscent of the Artemis Chasma...



Now, what exactly was happening on Venus circa June 3049? I'm not entirely sure--but I do know on June 7th 2012 Venus is transitioning across the sun... Coincidence?

As I said in that thread. I'm guessing it is a garbled initial report from one of the first clan encounters in one of the outer systems. iirc, those started well before the actual invasion.

Its not gonna be anything about early reports of the clan invasion because there were not any reports earlier than august of 3049. They stated they wouldnt change canon.

I wasnt aware that venus was a comstar/starleague holding where can I find more information on this?

There's information about it in the Star League and, more extensively, in Jihad Hot Spots: Terra. Its terraforming has actually failed pretty spectacularly since the fall of the Star League and it's pretty much uninhabited by the mid-31st century. It doesn't produce WarShips as far as I recall, though, he may be thinking of Titan.
