Yes everyone wants new mechs and new maps, and I understand that you guys have to make a buck. But you are seriously losing a lot of hard core players because of the stupid bugs. 1 step forward and 2 steps back. After all of this development and after crunch some numbers from several nights of gaming in a 4 man group, about 75% of the time, one of us had some sort of bug whether it be no HUD, no IFF, technicolor, or just the plain old disconnects (that I just experienced after only my second match).

I love the game, play it every night, but you are really screwing this up. Dont.

OP: Quit assuming debugging is easy as point and click.

The art department isn't involved in the bug hunting.

OP:

Stop screwing up game-design in your head.

New content guys have NOTHING TO DO WITH DEBUGGING.

Nor do you WANT them to be debugging, trust you me.

The OP obviously has years of experience with creating, programming, testing, an debugging games. We should all listen to him and his vast array of knowledge and awesomesauce...

...wait, how much experience do you have in Game Development again? I just want to be sure.... :D

If they are "Hardcore" players then they should understand the difficulty in squashing bugs. If they don't, then they are not "Hardcore". I have found that most people that describe themselves as "hardcore" are typically among the most irritating, whiny and obnoxious members of any on-line community.

This reply is to ever person that has made one of these posts.

Yes the bugs suck and get on all of our nerves. But fixing it is no simple task. Everyone that keeps saying that they need to fix it "RIGHT NOW" I would like to see how long it would take to debug a game like this. Most of you would never be able to because you don't know the first thing about making a game, debugging, or code in general. So stop acting like this is as easy as turning on a light switch because it is not.

I love how people with no experience in software development trot out the old "QA is harrrrd" excuse. This isn't even about QA challenges, this is about a blatant lack of QA to begin with.

Oh so you have intimate knowledge of the PGI staff? Do share!

Here is a very simple solution to people complaining about lack of QA: closed patch testing. On the day when the patch is released, only players who sign up to BETA TEST the game is let into the servers. They (we!) test the patch as a bigger group, and if we are ok with the patch, it stays. Otherwise they roll it back.

People who cannot handle bugs will not be let into the 24 hour test for each new patch.

The end.

Oh, you don't have all the bugs? Do share your special version of the game with the rest of us!

I experience all the bugs, like any other TESTER.

Their priorities are certainly not about player retention right now.

As someone with 16 years of experience in software development on live systems, if I had pushed changes to users that caused my customer-base to begin leaving in droves, I would roll that change back while working to figure it out. They have not done so and, by the low number of friends I see online most of the time, that appears to have been a large mistake.

Works for me. In fact, I have no problem being a beta tester in that sort of scenario. What sucks is a released product that regresses with every patch and has glaring, game inhibiting bugs that have apparently been present and known about since longer than I've been playing the game.
Again, this isn't about occasional bugs. That's to be expected, especially with a beta product.
This product exhibits some pretty fundamental issues.

Oh so the game has been polished and released, and is no longer in beta? Better let PGI know, they seem to think it still is.
