I saw a lot of poptarts. Are they annoying? Yes, a little. Is it OP or otherwise unfair? Nope.

Today's patch had an unlucky combo:
-New assault mech with JJ
-Improvement to both ballistics and PPCs

In this situation poptarting is somewhat a given ;) We're gonna see a lot of these maestros in the next few days, but their numbers will slowly decline. In a few weeks things will be back to normal, and everyone can get back to complaining about their usual sh*t.
My heart goes out to all the new players, who will drop for the first time in the next few days...

We've been having this same discussion since the days of the dual gauss K2, just remove K2 and insert X for whatever style of play forum goers prefer to complain over.

Shooting without LOS>shooting with LOS

You ran with the wrong kind of LRM boats.

Many manly tears were shed by many a poptard after the LRM rain came over them. Now they do not even laugh about the rain, they do not even notice it, at all.

No LOS, no Artemis. And someone had to keep LOS or you don't have a lock.

??? Poptarts ignore lrms cause they drop behind cover and break locks. Then they laugh as the lrms impact the cover in front of them.

Make Jumpjets more "realistic". They're too smooth going up and you float going down. A 90ton mech with JJs should be shaking like a mexican space shuttle. Boom. no more precision poptarts.

While I appreciate the analogy...

You're looking for realism in a universe where legs are preferred over the wheel or tracks for tanks?

Poptarts are why you use LRMs. Just keep up the rain. Even if they decide to eat the missiles the cockpit shake keeps them from hitting anything.

Don't get so freaked out. Tactics are evolving and poptarts are a tactic for the slow-thinkers. They're a hell of a lot easier to deal with than a 2xAC20 Jag.

LURM them, watch them hide, get close and blow the crap out of them.

id be mad at paptarting also If I stood still in the open and did not use cover.

as far as the boating. Anything running 6 erppc or 6 e large lasers should shut down a lot longer then they do now after every alpha. A LOT longer. There needs to be a steep penalty for running all of one thing as big as ppc/LL. Its the heat mechanics. Im sure they will get a pass be4 live, but im not holding my breath.

yeah seriously guys,

Poptards are amazing, they slowly rise up into the line of my bullets... if they want to play a style of game that you stand around/jump around, and get waxed by people who know how to play and well that's their choice...

it's no different than a catapault-c1, or a cataphract 3...wtv, doing poptarting, it's easy it's fun, and yeah you can get waxed doing it...

get used to it brah, we're all in this together

And how easily a mechwarrior can be trained use a mech whose knees bend the opposite way. Real instinctive I'm sure. ;)

Spoken like a poptard who doesn't want to lose his easymode.
Sorry, but the statement is valid. What good IS a community game if it has no community? Being that this is an open beta, I can not see hundreds of thousands of people flocking to this game once it leaves open beta and "officially Launches", especially when they can try it now.

You obviously don't know me. I don't pilot a single poptart style Mech (yes I've tried them, no they aren't in my rotation at all...not my preferred playstyle). I'm not bashing IceGryphon (I simply disagree with his assessment that the community suffers when it loses people like the OP), but I am callin the OP out for his petulant ********. Just saying.

The problem lies with the Overnerf of SRMs vs the Overbuff of PPCs

highlander just makes it more obvious

I'm downloading this game right now and I don't have the slightest clue. PPC DRM PWNAGE, is this game fudged and I shouldn't bother d/l it?

Don't let the extremely whiny masses deter you from enjoying the game. These people will not stop whining until the game is exactly how they want it to be. Ignore these folks who have an extremely high sense of entitlement.

Better yet, avoid the forums like the plague. Many people experience extremely detrimental effects to repeated exposure.

Continue to download and let the fun begin.

The game is a hell of a lot of fun. Steep learning and relatively unforgiving in that regard, but doesn't matter. It's fun and improving all the time (ime).

Just so ya know, light mechs are basically free kills right now, if you have anything approaching good aim.

Lights cannot stand up to repeated shots from mechs with a 40+ alpha strike.

and they shouldnt.

I reinstalled. Now on my 12th drop. In 1 game the colors on the hud for allied/enemy were reversed for who had captured that point. That's it.

And didn't we all laugh about the thought of a 90t poptard? Who would want that? And how could this even work, a big target like that?

Well...I just had a few couple games after the patch and I gotta say I'm almost at the point of throwing this game off the pc.

Boats, for the most part. Large lasers and ppcs everywhere. And the former joke, the Highlander with 2 ERPPC and 1 Gauss as a poptard among them.

This game has now officially become a parody of the name "MechWarrior". My personal thanks goes to all those who actively worked to ruin this game for the old fans, those who liked the books and the older games. You are the best!

.

Show patience, maneuver, stop staying in the open, stop expecting that after today you'll only see poptarts for EVAR, and most of all learn to expect a surge of one type of mech after its launched. Just like jaggers, peoples boredom has gotten the better of them so there now all trying the flavor of the patch. Its a fun mech(one I personally play and have been waiting months for so I'm biased), but given time the way people are building them, they'll grow bored of and move on to easier to play mechs. Because as you've noted, we've all pointed out its downside, what makes them viable right now, is that allot of the games going on a 4v4 poptarts, plus a few other heavy/assaults. Which is any poptarts dream.

Or QQ more and throw your keyboard, thats an option too.

Also hard for poptarting in the tunnels and certain map areas.
This is why you flank them and send some 3L and Splat cats up their rear ends.

I guess I "kinda" get your point, but then you could just say, brawling is for the dim-witted. Because all they do is try to close the distance and unload at point blank. Which makes me doubly dumb because I run a poptart-brawler....LOL

At any rate you made the only point that matters, less QQ, more adapt and evolve.

First there was the Jenner.

And then came the Trollmando

And then came the 9SLaser Swayback

And then the Gausspult

And then the Streakpult

And then the 6SRM6-pult

And then the ECM Atlas

And then the ECM Raven

And then the 2 AC20 Jag

Now is the jumping Highlander.

Believe... it will pass...
