First there was the Jenner.

And then came the Trollmando

And then came the 9SLaser Swayback

And then the Gausspult

And then the Streakpult

And then the 6SRM6-pult

And then the ECM Atlas

And then the ECM Raven

And then the 2 AC20 Jag

Now is the jumping Highlander.

Believe... it will pass...

Nope, every one of those was and is OP until the end of time.
Weird... looks like there is a new meta every month... go figure.

As HSR will be completed for all weapons and some data collected it wouldn't surprise me at all if all weapons would needs some re-balancing down the road. The current damage, fire rate, heat etc for all weapons were made when lag was constantly a factor whether you'll hit or miss. Once it's not an issue anymore it would only make sense to look over the weapons once more. It might be something as basic as a certain % of damage reduction for all weapons, but something will probably need to be done.

Yes, but there is not 1 build that is OP, there are several. This is working as intended.

This flux meta is what makes me stick to the game. Even if one style of play became preponderant, it will wane in 2 to 4 weeks... and the game goes one until the next "Doom's day feature".

Just played a few matches, have yet to see a single poptart. Maybe with the adjusted Elo ranking there's fewer in my bracket?

You know you have low Elo when you make threads like "What's up with all these LBX Dragons?!"

So, wait. You're telling me that with the introduction of this new 'mech, a classic that everyone is willing to drop major CB or MC to get, an influx of said 'mech will appear in-game. And that, God forbid, it will appear regularly in large numbers in most matches for a few weeks; in a similar fashion to every new 'mech with a unique niche?! This is the very sort of maddening witchcraft that the General Forums so kindly informs me of, otherwise, who would've known?! Y'know what, if the OP says the game is now officially a parody, I'll take his official declaration of parody in good faith and not even bother trying the new patch out for myself. Thanks, OP :D !

Make Jumpjets more "realistic". They're too smooth going up and you float going down. A 90ton mech with JJs should be shaking like a mexican space shuttle. Boom. no more precision poptarts.

My mech has a ginormous gyro in its center to counter that.. maybe if that gyro were damaged it should shake.. otherwise, not so much..

Wonder if that's what "Flavor of the Month" means...*rolls eyes*

Back to the OP...we min/maxed things in the old games too- in fact, min/maxing and FOTM mentality is so basic human nature that the only way to actually ever get rid of the phenomenon known as "cheese building" is to give everybody the exact same mech... because even 1% better is better than 0% better, and as soon as you have even a 1% advantage over people in games, they will invariably start crying "Cheese!".

Hell, according to these forums, in this game you can even give everybody the same exact mech...if they are using teamspeak to play as a team THAT is considered cheese by some, if they go for a cap win instead of a direct brawl, others call that cheese...

...the only way it ever stops is when crybabies quit crying, because "cheese" is a concept and not an actual thing, and is never going away no matter what the Devs change.

This patch broke the game even more than the last patch. Unless you're a fan of jumpsniperwarrior online that is... but if it's what the majority wants, then how can you argue?

especially as 3rd person view HELPS the poptard argument and thats definately being planned now

Truth be said... he is hoping for EA's old MPBT 3025 - to come out still. I do too... where we all started off as light pilots and we had to earn our way to mediums and then earn our way to heavies and few people could earn their way into assaults. Then, you had to play STOCK 3025 variants. None of this customizable MWO, Mech 4, BS we have here?

I personally think the ability to customize their mechs has turned this game from great to ... @*#& (crap). Why? Its an ARMS race, literally. I buy a new 'mech. I will not play it until I earn an extra 1.5 million c-bills for Double Heat sinks. Most 'mechs also require Endo Steel as well... another 500K to a million down the drain.

If i was a noob, I would be too poor and new to understand that Double Heat Sinks are worth every c-bill and a "MUST HAVE" item. Likewise, most chassis require Endo Steel to be a "MUST HAVE" item. 'Mechs that have the ability to use ECM need those ECMs - they are a "MUST HAVE" if the mech can have them... they need to. Ever see an Atlas D-DC without ECM and you go @#*& me? Why?

If I said it once, I'll say it a million times.

Only newbs play open class. EVERY pro eventually graduates to stock mechs because open mechs is easy mode.

PGI made a lot of money feeding us a tale of a game that many of us thought would recapture the 3025 spirit with open class mechs.

We need to take the lessons learned from mech2,3, and 4 to make MWO a fun mechwarrior game where weapons properly counterbalance.

Mech3 LRMS WOULD fix pop-tarting. They where lethal vs stationary mechs, yet had a hard time hitting very mobile targets or stuff in close. But they could be arced over cover. It's an easy fix. Arty strikes are an epic fail of garbage. buffing them or using them to fix pop-tarting was a horrible idea.

I'm looking at my Battletech Third Edition rule book, and the rules for mech design are featured prominently.
Back in the days of tabletop (or dormroom floor) Battletech, I didn't know anyone that ever used a stock design. We took the published designs as starting points. They all had some bothersome quirk that was well worthwhile to fix.

I also remember seeing experienced players fumble through the rulebook in the middle of a game. I remember our games kept getting interrupted at 6 or 7 turns because they took so long. I remember thinking it had the potential to be fun, if someone made it into a computer game.

I remember MW2, and I remember loading up on double heat sinks. That still applies in MWO. I learned it the hard way 14 years ago, and I'm not going to unlearn it. As soon as Battletech turned into a realtime game, things were destined to change. Now that those things have changed, I see a lot of the same principles in MWO that I remember from MW2.

If this were tabletop Battletech, my Catapult would have the same size CT as a Commando, and wouldn't get cored out so easily. I also wouldn't be bound by hardpoints. I could have a higher ratio of guns to heat sinks, because the guns would each fire once per turn. ...And the minimum range of PPCs wouldn't be such a bother. However long each turn took (up to 15 f-ing minutes) we had that long to figure out how to manuever to keep the target out of minimum range.

One thing I'm glad changed some time between MW2 and MWO: PPCs. My friends and I all thought the ball lightning visual effect was ridiculous, and couldn't hit a moving target for anything. Now, PPCs look more like the lightning arc I imagined all those years ago.

I'd be happy if the game would stop locking up.
