Hmm... so... I havent got a Jagermech yet but I am finding them a bit hard-to-kill (as in, they kill me first)

Does anyone have any tips for taking out jagers? weak spots? and such?

You can go for the side torsos, as many Jagers have XL engines, especially dual Gauss or dual AC20 builds. Both of them have quite long cooldown time, so if they miss you have some time to shoot and hide or move away.

You could always get lucky and hit cockpit while aiming for CT.

(Mhm...shall I answer him and risk that he takes me out when I drive my Jager...or not...:D)

Many Jagermechs use an XL-Engine. Since the Jagermech is usually very focused on dishing out serious damage the like of an assault mech but the lacks the tonnage of the latter, an xl-engine almost seems mandatory. So your main target should be the shoulders. If you miss, there's a good change you hit the arms which can also help taking out their big weapons.

And if they don't use an xl-engine then they're either slow or don't dish out that many damage.

Oh and on a side not...one of my Jagermechs does NOT use an xl and it's still funny to notice that people try to take me out this way. Surprise, *******! :D

Definitely go for side torsos like above said. Also, when you drop a jager's side torso, it'll take out their heavy hitting arm weapons so even if you don't get the kill, you've stopped most of his damage.

Fight it on your elevation level. Unless it's some sort of niche Large Laser build, its arm weapons are a huge advantage when fighting enemies that are above or below it. Also, because of weight issues (ballistics are heavy haha) most Jagermechs fall into one of the following categories:
  • XL Engine.
  • Slow.
  • Weak weaponry.
  • Most of the firepower comes from torso-mounted energy weapons.
...each of which has exploitable weaknesses.

thanks for the replies, I will definitely brush up on my location targeting - which I havent really mastered at all yet.

Those dual AC20 and dual Gauss jagers really are scary. (I have to get one haha)

Fitting up my second Jagr model now (I have A and now S) and as a general rule I can tell you that if it has ballistics, then it's legs are full of ammo and not as well armored as you might think... so think twice if you're gonna die anyway - it might be better for the next guy that has to deal with it if it can't move...

Target their legs or side torsos.

I find Jagermechs fairly easy to kill. Their flat torsos and back are wide and easy to hit. Conversely, when I am in my Jagermechs, I find myself getting killed often.

In the game, I find that the ballistic heavies (Jagermechs, Cataphracts, and the Catapult K2) are natural enemies of PPC wielding assaults and vice versa.

Do what i do blast their arms off, without them they have little going on and they'll blow off quicker than torso's most of the time.

I find this is often unlucky; unless your initial salvo has enough damage to take out the cockpit entirely, your chances of landing a follow-up shot on that single center window are extremely small.

Essentially, if you can't do it in 1, a single cockpit hit simply takes away from your damage for the CT.

At the moment I am running 2x SRM6 + Artemis on a build that moves 100+ kph. Normally (unless I am up against a good Jager pilot) I can keep to their rear and sides and mince them with rockets before they can get me. That's provided I get the chance to take them on one-on-one with no interruptions. If they have duel AC/2's however they normally mess me up and throw off my aim. Dual AC/2's are amazing to watch in action.
