Many Jagermechs use an XL-Engine. Since the Jagermech is usually very focused on dishing out serious damage the like of an assault mech but the lacks the tonnage of the latter, an xl-engine almost seems mandatory. So your main target should be the shoulders. If you miss, there's a good change you hit the arms which can also help taking out their big weapons.
And if they don't use an xl-engine then they're either slow or don't dish out that many damage.
Oh and on a side not...one of my Jagermechs does NOT use an xl and it's still funny to notice that people try to take me out this way. Surprise, *******!

- XL Engine.
- Slow.
- Weak weaponry.
- Most of the firepower comes from torso-mounted energy weapons.

Those dual AC20 and dual Gauss jagers really are scary. (I have to get one haha)

In the game, I find that the ballistic heavies (Jagermechs, Cataphracts, and the Catapult K2) are natural enemies of PPC wielding assaults and vice versa.

I find this is often unlucky; unless your initial salvo has enough damage to take out the cockpit entirely, your chances of landing a follow-up shot on that single center window are extremely small.
Essentially, if you can't do it in 1, a single cockpit hit simply takes away from your damage for the CT.
