For someone who prefers piloting heavier mechs, one of the greatest sources of irritation used to be landing that AC20 shot, and seeing the light mech continue onward with no damage. Enjoying the state rewind >D

I remember back in CB the first time I shot an overheated Jenner with an AC/20 and he 'woke up' and ran away. I was so disappointed!

As a Jenner Pilot, I am loving this new patch. I am lucky I never fell into the circle strafe/Fotm Raven build and kept with what I enjoyed through closed and open beta.

Yea, it sucks to have a Jaeger hit me with an AC/20 now. It surprised me so much my friends were laughing when I started rocking and going, "I'm bad. I'm bad."

Circle Strafing gets ya killed now, and I am fine with that. Having to use terrain again, and get behind the opponents instead of charging them? I am fine with that too.
Randomly flying and evading an enemy and having a PPC blow my head off? I am fine with that as well. It was necessary to the game to get rid of as much lag issue as possible.
Hasn't affected my game much either. I had a couple games where I got obliterated at the beginning, and others where I was the last one alive and on top of the scoreboard.

Heck, recently I unloaded 7 dual UAC5 shots and 2 volleys of 4 mpls into the rear of a shutdown Commando only to have him power up and take off running with yellow armour. It's nice to be able to defend yourself with an Assault or Heavy again.

SERPENTINE!

BABOU! SERPENTINE!

As a light pilot (a Commando pilot no less) I'm honestly not particularly upset by HSR making me much easier to hit. Bring it for the missiles. Bring back knockdown! I'm easier to kill these days, sure, but I'm having a lot more fun. The only time a situation feels patently unfair is when I run into a Raven 3L. Everything else is a welcome challenge.

When knockdowns come back I'm looking forward to Terry Tate-ing other lights and letting my teammates have their way with them.

If light pilots (and especially 3L pilots) become more scarce because of these balancing changes that do nerf the efficacy of light mechs in general, that's fine by me. That means that the only people rolling lights out there are gonna be the ones that KNOW how to pilot.

Well the implemetation of HSR sure has opened my eyes as a light pilot. For months people have been telling me that the only reason they did not hit me was lagshield and how without lagshield i am nothing. Well now i finally know the truth...people still cannot hit a Jenner dancing 100m infront of them...lagshield seems to have just been an easy excuse for an inability to lead targets properly! :/ SSRM users on the other hand, those skilled ********, even when I am facing the opposite direction they still manage to aim at my front ct.

Does this mean that they will give a Jenner variant ECM now? All I really want is to not have a giant red triangle floating above me from 600m out.

What do you think about self-guided projectiles?
Today when I saw it, I laughed for a long time.
The projectile turned to me when I was running at a speed of 150 km / h at a distance of 600 meters

He tells the truth. He pwned me in my Hunchback recently.

I haven't noticed a huge difference. I still pilot using cover and be unpredictable. I got popped last night by a Highlander that I harrassed for most of the match shooting him in the back. Never did kill him but he was so mad that he told me " F you Commando! " after I made a fatal mistake at the end of the match and he gaussed me. Oh well..ce la vie. I made a bad move and paid for it. That's the difference now.

My Raven 3L is doing fine as long as I don't get cocky. I never would charge into groups much so now I just stick to the team and keep my head down as scout. I go take a peak and run back to the group to give them ECM cover. Usually works out better than being that scout that is off in no man's land.

Took my trusty Spider for a run after the patch, it got blasted off the sky no matter how "hyperactive" I tried to be with the mobility and jumpjets.

The only way to play the game right now is to take a PPC boat. Forget the lights.

Also, stop diluting the discussion with images on the forums. You've got 4chan for that.

I drive 150kph jenner and don't see any difference. Maybe because I never hope on lag-shield™, and use more tactics and tricks.

Oh maybe you would share your eternal light wisdom with us? Which "more tactics" and "tricks" save you from 6 PPC shot of deaths? You can't hide and cap forever.

It's funny how the better hit detection gets the fewer 'elite' light pilots there are. Guess they weren't really 'elite' to begin with. :D Once we get state rewind for missiles I think that will kill off the last of the crappy 3L pilots who were skating by on the fact that only their missiles were hitting. Hope they enjoyed all those cheesy kills and inflated stats. It's gonna be a whole new ball game, and they are going to finally have to learn how to actually PLAY.

BTW- This is not a knock at actual good light pilots. I know there are guys out there I have played with and against who can make their mechs do amazing things. My hat is off for all of you. I'm sure that you love the new hit detection just as much as every one else.

Except that's just not true. As hit detection gets better, not only has the heavy weapons been getting buffed alongside it, but the mechs released are becoming boatier.

In closed beta and up to the stalkers release you couldn't make mechs with 60 point alphas at max range, let alone 45 (the current poptart). And if you could it was with LRMs that lights can avoid using their speed. Now we have more and more patches where velocities of heavy weapons are increasing, making them more and more like lasers instead of ballistics, and alphas that rip legs off in single salvos even with max armor. And netcode after netcode fix without removing the ******** engine limits that should make lights function as lights while making their speed progressively more and more worthless.

You just can't do much except try to cap against a line of poptarts that only need a single shot between 8 people standing any range apart to instantly obliterate you. And if they're camping their base (which they are cause lol poptarts), all you can do is hope they overheat while firing at you to at least give a teammate a free shot.

And I have no clue why some of you think buffing LRMs is somehow going to nerf poptarts standing behind cover that those LRMs will just smash into...

My first Mech was a COM-1B, way before the Cadet Bonus. That was a grind, lol.

And I like how the HSR is working so far. I'm currently using a SPR-5D and I'm still learning how to use Jump-Jets with it. It really does take time to be able to pilot a Light effectively and the learning curve is a tad high, but that seems fine to me, since Lights can still be effective in specific roles.

And maybe you just gotta be a little crazy to be in a Light Mech anyway.

I recently started reading the Battletech books and was immediately confused. Light mech pilots were scared when they saw Heavies on the field. What? But lights are invincible. I bet they are where they are supposed to be.

I still rip sh*t up with my Jenner. Dueled a fresh AC/20 Jagermech last night after already being hit by the other guys I had killed. He hit me once and I still killed him.

I think it's just forcing us to rely on skill rather than lag.

Part of that is also because MWO armor is double the BT values so matches last longer.

Try halving all your armor values without adding anything else to the Mech the next time you go into the field to simulate that fear.

Find enemy,
1) return to team, fight in the back row and pray not to be a target
or
2) cap enemy base.

Bunny hops, as their weapons come off cooldown, almost all fire as soon as they can, time it in your head.
