Wed. Apr 17, 3050: Rim Collection desperate for infusion of new colonists into the nascent Periphery realm; large land tracts “dirt cheap.”

Yeah it does seem like the perfect time to move to the Periphery...

What the periphery really needs is someone to take charge...you know...someone with a strong sense of right and wrong.

What's wrong with her? She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land.

The 'hitch' is that it's the Periphery.

The Rim Collection is also only two years old, having been founded in 2048.

3048, thanks for spotting the error.

Founded in 2048 but only 2 years old?

The Rim Collection was formed in 3048 by 6 former Rim Worlds Republic planets outside the boundary of the Lyran Alliance. While the nation had a slow start, it saw steady improvement over the next decade as it built trading agreements with the Lyran Alliance.

The Rim Collection is defended by the mercenary unit Able's Aces and the Rim Collection militia, which is trained and partially armed by the Aces themselves.

Rather live in the periphery then be some stuck up inner sphere rat.

Anyway http://www.sarna.net..._Blood_Betrayed is nice read and gives insight on what its like being in the periphery.

Dont read the summary if you dont want spoilers.

People are wondering why the Rim Collection is having trouble attracting settlers? Isn't that fairly obvious? Look at the history of the Inner Sphere. If there's one thing that's certain it's that if you have something, someone else will want to have it as well, and if that someone else is bigger and more powerful then they will most likely take it and not bother asking for permission. How long do you people think the Rim Collection will survive with powerful neighbors all around, defended only by militia and a single mercenary unit? My bet? Within the next decade they'll have been absorbed into either the Lyran Commonwealth or one of their bigger Periphery cousins will have invaded and taken over. Either way it means turmoil and instability for the citizens of the Collection.
