It was stated in a command chair post that a hotfix was available for the "disconnection in mid-game" bug. If there's a tourney planned within the current 3 week wait til the next patch, PLEASE STRONGLY CONSIDER no tourneys until the hotfix is applied. Having people CTD/crash often enough does not help promote a tourney...
It's important to keep stability up (although, performance is still down somewhat) while all of this is progressing slowly for the better.

They've never told us until the day of or day before it is launched. So, if they've planned one (for the sake of ELO analysis, which has been for the last # of tournies), it wouldn't shock me.

Yes pgi is known to take suggestions from the forums. I'm sure they will listen.

I don't consider anything that's gone on so far a proper tournament anyway.

Agreed.
For your reference.. there has seemingly been a tourney scheduled soon after a MM change was made (v2 with weights, v3 with ELO). There is actually a strong possibility that they will have one within these 3 weeks.
The last tourney was a "reinforcement" of "tweaking the rules"... and lots of fail logic used in that tourney.

Kind of like yelling for people to stop burning your house down, when there is no one in sight.

Like it's been said before they're likely used to collect data. Move along.
