i dont think case prevents weapon explosions? does it prevent weapon explosions from damaging XL?

CASE will contain an explosion in the area where it is applied. So if it is in a side torso, the explosion will be contained within that torso and will not spill over to the arm or CT. If you have an XL Engine, CASE will not protect it in the RT/LT/CT.
But CASE in the arm can prevent it from spilling into the RT/LT. SO Basically CASE in the RT/LT with an XL Engine is a waste of tonnage. Better off moving it or removing it all together.

^^ essentiall right, but 2 things on that:

1. IS Case can not be mounted in arms, only the torso,

2. If the torso is blown up, even with case, the arm SHOULD be rendered useless. Not necessarily destroyed, but inoperable. There appears to be a bug where this does not always happen, but I may just be seeing things.
_____

One thing to note is that case in MWO is different from tt.

In TT it blows out the rear armor, venting the damage away from teh components, saving whatever did not blow up. Futore explosions in that section will simply vent through the pre-removed back armor.

In MWO, the entiire section is generally still toast, esp if the explosion cascades and takes out another bin. But the damage will not spread to adjacent sections.

This is the main reason why CASE +XL works fine in TT but not MWO.

I haven't run CASE in a very long time, so they might have made it not be able to go in the arms. I know a VERY long time ago I put CASE in the arms of one of my mechs, but that could have been a glitch. And even if CASE is in a side torso, if it gets blown off, the arm goes too, just no damage gets transferred into the CT.
