What do we have? In the not too distant future, we will have Prince Victor Steiner-Davion, the undisputed hero of the Clan invasions (Perhaps second only to Morgan Hasek-Davion--oh look, another Davion!), perhaps one of the most talented Mechwarriors ever born in the Inner Sphere. But, until then, we have Prince Hanse Davion, also known as The Fox for his shrewd military and political tactics. It's said that war with the Federated Suns ends before it even begins, if only from the threat that The Fox might join the fray himself.

Aside from the heroic leadership that inspires us all, the Davion Federated Suns boasts what may be the most advanced University in the galaxy, the New Avalon Institute of Science, which is all but solely responsible for the recovery of all LosTech discovered to date. There is also the highly-respected military branch thereof, The College of Military Science. The prestigious CMS produces thousands of cadets of the highest quality and skill each year, giving even the greenest of our military an edge not seen in any other successor state.

I hope, knowing all this, that you will come to realize that the Davions truly are the greatest force in the Inner Sphere and join us in our conquest of the galaxy. Fight hard. Fight with honor.

...PS, we do also have cookies.

Can we get a student exchange program going once the waves have settled? (read: Clan Invasion).
Back here in the Homeworlds things have rather, shall we say, settled? That is not to say Kerensky's teachings and 'the way' are not fascinating on their own. Clan Cloud Cobra is very open to discussion and exchange regarding science, religion and culture. We would be delighted to show you all facets of our culture. There might be a possibility to arrange mock trials for those who are interested in the military aspects of our culture.

And yes, there are cookies to be had. Our science caste has genetically enhanced our 'entertainment caste'. There is no better place to relax on this side of the border =)

Maybe we should throw in a couple mooncakes to apeal to the CC in the Davion forums? Mix them in with the cookies, near the buttercrisps or sugarlace. Stave off another Succession War on that idea alone, I think.

We are the rightful heirs of the starleague and about to re-establish her for the greater good of all the inner sphere. By doing so, we already have liberated large parts of the Capellan Confederacy and we will continue in doing so, if possibilities should be around.

We are the protectors of freedom and enlightment during this troubled times.

By the peaceful means of marriage our great first prince hast established the most powerful powerblock since the first succession war in forging an alliance with our brothers and sisters from the Lyran Commonwealth.

We carry the torch of wisdom against the darkness of the technological decay around us by re-inventing long lost technology at the NAIS.

We are the shield and sword of humanity, the glorious crusaders for justice and equality. To stand up against us is foolish and evil.

So do your best today and enlist at your local AFFS recruiting bureau to join in our great task of pacifying and uniting mankind once and for all under one common flag!

How can you 'liberate' that which does not feel caged or oppressed?

By peaceful you mean declaring war an offering someone else's property as a present?

If Hanse thought the CC was a threat after infiltrating two people in to Max Liao's inner circle who could have killed him at any time, while also outnumbering the CCAF 3:1, Hanse had no sense of perspective. So either he's bloodthirsty or an *****.

And this is why you are not the next Greatest Military Leader :D
Any sensible military commander will tell you that to successfully assault a target you need more troops then the enemy who defends it. Often a 3 to 1 ratio is mentioned, usually more is better. This is so that you can overwhelm the enemy and make sure you don't take to many casualties on your side, and essentially cripple your own units.

1. So, because Hansel Davion couldn't take a freekin' joke, he destroys the lives of countless millions of innocents?
2. In Maximilian's plan, ONE person was affected - and not even killed. That dude was about to become a preeminent power in the galaxy. I'm sure that's a bump up in status from delivery boy.

Bottom line, Maximilian Liao planned to replace Hanse, and also planned with Michael Hasek-Davion to attack the Federated Suns. That plan failed by a narrow margin. If that plan had worked, hundreds of millions of civilians would have died on our side. Further the plan to combine the Federated Suns and Lyrian Commonwealth needed a good secure connection between both realms. All good reasons to attack Liao and dont forget Kurita and some Marik stuff too. Reasons enough to start a war in the Inner Sphere.

Lucky for Liao, Comstar stepped in, and hindered our conquest before we could cripple House Liao beyond its ability to ever come back as a major force. It would have been a severe blow to our propaganda machine if we could have taken over the whole place :o
Do you know how hard it is to make House Marik into a bad guy?

Now just surrender to the Pax Davion, and become a happy peasant in our freedom loving realm :)

You should join Davion if you like having your sworn leader ( who's a bit of a perv ) pistolwhip other mechs and bludgeoning them to death with their own limbs.

Also, if you like sexual assault.

Also, if you like having the dumbest citizens in the entire Inner Sphere.

.

what do you expect the man to do. a whole battalion of enemy mechs dropped right on top of his home and they got to close for him to be able to fire safely

And at least our leaders arent afraid to suit up and pilot a mech to defend their homes. even when Sian was being attacked, Sun Tzu hid somewhere crying like a little baby while someone else went out in his mech and pretended to be him.

Of course he didn't - after all SunTzu was not a warrior, even though he had the training. But on the same hand is/was Hanse Davion not a politician, so this comparsion is rather unfair anyway.

Hey, I'm not knockin him for it! Him bludgeoning mechs to death with the severed arm of a Marauder is AOK in by book even if he is a creepy ephebophile who runs a nation full of a illiterate mouthbreathers!

Yes, I know, Stackpole mentions it constantly because he thinks we're no smarter than him. Still doesn't establish why Hanse would feel "threatened" by the CC when he could have the royal family killed at any time.

So it was just revenge after all, then. I suppose that's better than the other guy claiming Hanse saw the CC as a legit threat.

When considering the Federated Suns should have your loyalty, you really only need to ask one question:

Did Hanse shoot first?

He could not have taken out the whole family. Also an assassination of Max could have triggered an revenge strike by Liao. Although the Liao military was not in top shape and condition, they where not a toothless dog that would roll over and play death at command.

Dont discount the plans of Max and Michael Hasek to go after the rest of the Federated Suns either. Those plans became known and could have happen. Lucky for us they did not.

Hanse's goal was a bit more then just revenge. He also wanted a broad corridor to connection Davion and Steiner space. I also believe he hoped he would cripple Liao enough that it would curb their future adventures.

Btw don't forget you guys also did well in the 4th succession war, finally giving those dragons a good trashing, don't tell me you guys where not itching for some payback for all of their attacks on House Steiner.

Between Justin and Alex it would have been child's play to kill Max and his ilk. Justin was having dinner with the family while he had a loaded gun in his arm. Hanse just needed to feel like a big man, as all bullies do, by pushing around someone who couldn't effectively fight back.

And the 4SW gains were pretty meh. The Duke of Tamar pissed them away with his treatment of the Rasalhagians. Only thing we took away from it long-term was dealing with Fred.

Yeah, way better to get hundreds of millions of people killed rather than two people die.
