Best 10 matches based on damage, kills, kill assists, and winning.

I love it. As someone who can't play all day let a lone all weekend, the previous contests were totally out of my range (though I missed one while on vacation, don't know what it was like).

This is a much better format, and much more fair. The only shenanigan I can see would be someone trying to drive down their ELO into the basement to get easier matches, but that is not exactly a quick thing to do.

Cudos to PGI for a contest that I expect a lot of people to be excited for.

yeah, first thing I looked at was if narc and tag was part of it. Nice to see they learned.

Ehhh, if the only thing on sale this weekend is one camo for Dragon mechs and GXP conversion, other than some GXP conversion with the MC i have already, it'll be a pretty quiet weekend for my wallet.

Damage being a factor is great. If properly weighted it can solve both the kill steal and shoot everyone once and disconnect issues.

I don't think you understand how poorly PGI implemented the Elo system in this game.

These contests aren't done right until the drops split players into a separate game mode so they only compete against other tournament players. PGI could add a "Tournament" option along with Assault/Conquest to make this work.

I predict groups of 4 lights causing more rage than usual for assault pilots this weekend.

This^^

Looks like I'll be taking this weekend off. The poptarting is bad enough now, it's only going to get worse with this tournament.

While I do not think that this is the "perfect" way to run a tournament, it is a better system than the last contests had. If they continue to adjust and improve the tournament system each time they run one they will be doing quite well.

At least they acknowledge the problems that previous tournaments have had and are attempting to fix them. And this is a step in the right direction.

Form a group of 4 lights and have a bit of fun at their expense by capping.

You're aware that this benefits those who can't shoot straight? I'm sick of people gloating about doing 1000 damage, when that's not a good way to be. Kill stuff *without* stripping all their armor first.

It's good to see damage added to the score, but I have to say it actually scores way too much since getting headshots and a quick kill means you'll lose out on a lot of points instead of massive damage done all over. Say you do 800 damage but 2 kills which will give you 810 points, 400 damage and 6 kills will give you 430? I dunno about you but I would think the guy with 430 points would most probably be the better player. I'd think something like (end of round damage/10) would make much more sense.

You mean my DDC Narc/TAG boat isn't going to sweep the competition? Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

I was just thinking the same thing OP. This is the way their challenges/tournaments should be, I'm even going to opt into this one...don't like my chances though.

For any hope at all at winning this contest you're either going to have to play a lot, or have the most amazing 10 matches you've ever had in a row....

10 matches like this (the very last round I played tonight), won't even get you in the top 100.

The rage won't be caused by swarms of lights killing assaults, the rage will be caused by swarms of lights base capping just to troll all the assault pilots who are trying to set high scores.

If April is Assault month, how about some Assault camos on sale this weekend instead of a Dragon camo?
