back in closed betta, an atlas had glowing red eyes and also a glowing red nose. where are those now? for me it was what made an atlas look like its a mech from hell.
maybe pgi should introduce different color lights in the mechlab, you know for mc or somethingPosted Image

They're cool, but you could see them coming from across the map.

I'm sure all the snipers would love this.

They were a great target for any decent shot from across the map.

They are a handicap.

All of the posts like those above, pretty much made sure they disappeared from the field.

That's what happened. =3

I'd love if there was an option to turn the lights on or off, something like cockpit lights. Wouldn't take all that much effort to code it in, now would it?

Different eye colors would also create another MC sink for PGI.

And cockpit glass tint as well.

But yes, the glowing eyes, while cool, were easy to spot from miles away, walking targets.

As soon as they add that you'll have people complaining that the adding of cosmetics means they're not working on bug fixes :P

well maybe they could code it to turn on only when your targeting a mech thats closer than 200m to you. that way it becomes a pyschological thing.
think about it. your closing down on an enemy atlas shooting at him, then all of a sudden he turns around at you and his eyes light up, it almost looks as if youve pissed him off lol. that would be cool.

Not sure why removing the lit eyes was a preferred choice over just putting a fall-off for them. Eg, 400m and further they aren't bright enough to be seen. Doesn't seem too hard to do... but who am I to say. I'm just saying that is what would have been preferred by most. I hope PGI polishes this and figures out a way to bring the eyes back.

i think it should be an option in game to turn them on or something. if i want to strike fear or just look cool, it looks great in game.

people are running around in pink mechs for crying out loud. what are some of you trying to say??? bright colors ok? but my glow eyes not??

It did look far more badass when they glowed.

Ya know if they can bring the glowy eyes back to the atlas that is great! IF they can still be seen at 1k m then I don't care! I will rock them for ever! IF they are fixed so that they are not visible unless you are close that is even better. In my opinion their come back has no downside.

What are you? Scarred because of Snipers?
You are MechWarriors...you don't give a damn at those sniper boys.
I don't give a damn.
I don't use camoflage, i would use glowing eyes even when they could lock their gauss rifles at that glowing.

The glowing eyes didn't matter in the past due to the use of thermal vision.

With the changes to thermal vision the glowing eyes would make an atlas a very easy target.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to make glow visible just within ~400 meters or so...

It would still provide a large focus fire target for multiple snipers. Missing a headshot wouldn't matter if every sniper on the team focused on that highly visible enemy atlas. While it is an easy target the eyes would just draw extra attention making the problem even worse.

Those eyes are still around.

The eyes just aren't glowing. But hit the light just right, and rawr.

Oh...if the whole enemy sniper team...is so stupid to aim seconds for a head shot instead of roughly aim for the center and blow that mech up....
one reason more to have red glowing eyes....
