Hi all I am a relatively new player, and so far I have mostly used some of the great guides on these forums to build a few mechs. I really like the new highlanders and want to start working on mastering them, and I thought about going for a brawler variation of the 733C and then maybe a sniper 732 just for variation.

This is probably not optimal by any stretch of the imagination, but this is my first swing at making something I thought useful for a 733C brawler:

I am still getting a feeling for how the stats how to be, to be in a comfortable place, such as heat and if I need artemis or not. Do I need less or more heatsinks? Is artemis worth it? The leg armor is a bit low, but I feel that assault mechs rarely get shot there much, even with JJ.

I hope some of you can provide pointers on how to make a decent Highlander brawler, and possibly hints on the sniper variant. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Man... that leg armor is scary.

I was considering a 733c build with JJx4, AC20 (4-5 ammo), AMS, LLPLx2 (or PPCx2), 3 SSRMx3 with 2 ammo (or SRM 4x3) ~520 armor, and then whatever HS or Engine I can stuff into the torso.

Figured I could pretty much melt anything that gets within 600 of me between the ac20 and LPL/PPC and then kill any non-ECM lights with the S/SRM.

Sounds good, I really like SSRM although when I use them, I often run into an ECM carrier at the worst possible times. The 2LPL and AC20 should be anough though in a brawl, guess SRM's would just be making it a walking oven anyway.

You know, I always hear people say "No one ever legs a (X non light or cicada mech) " And while I do not subscribe to that and try to keep as much armor on my legs as possible. With a jump jetting brawler you will be taking damage to your legs on a regular basis, if not from fall damage then from people missing your torso and hitting your legs as you jump jet out of the way.

Also, I think I might go insane running out of SRM ammo constantly with only 2 tons for 3 launchers.

This is what I would go with

Trades a bit of speed for more leg armor and an AMS...Alternatively you can pull the AMS and drop the leg armor down (still in the 60s though) to switch your Medium Lasers to Medium Pulse Lasers. With this build you still keep your Artemis SRM6s (with them split between the arm and torso like that but firing as a single volly due to the number of tubes this really is a good idea.) but with more leg armor and the added protection of AMS...Oh and one more ton of SRM ammo.

That is just how I would do it though.

I'm also trying to come up with a brawler build for my next highlander, but not too sure about 733C.
Based on your build I came up with this

Good start. The weapons load out is very close, if not the same as my close range DDC.

Remove two jump jets and leave only one for turning. Jump shooting is effective against scrubs, but doesn't have much advantage over pros. +2 tons

Add more ammo. You are a very short on both SRM and AC ammo.

Move some arm armor to your legs. Not all ammo are equal. Both SRM Artemis and AC20 ammo cause a great deal of damage when detonated. So you want to protect your legs. Pros almost always test your legs first.

All in all, you are cramping a bit more than you probably should in this mech. And you will have trouble with lights. I would replace all SRM with streaks, and use the tonnage for MPLAS, ammo, heatsinks, and full armor.

I am a brawler and I religiously configure brawler builds for every mech.

I'd drop down to an STD 300 and use those 2.5 tons for another ton of SRM ammo and leg armor. 2t of SRMs get used up really quick with 18 launch tubes. And you'll get shot in the legs pretty often with a jump-capable mech.

If you guys want the best build imaginable without jump jets... Well.. Here it is.

XL 320
Endo Steel
Double Heat Sinks
HEAVY METAL
2 Streak 2s
3 LG Pulse Lasers
One Gauss Rifle
4 tons of Gauss Ammo
1 Ton of S Ammo
Very fun.

This is amazing:
MAX ARMOR
0 Slots remaining.
1.25 heat efficiency
52 FIREPOWER!!
Want the Build?
HERE IT IS
And remember folks, Gauss Ammo Does not explode, only the gun itself.

If that doesn't link, try this one:
<a href="http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=69&l=788263470aa5caa36b840e2f8b1078324d663fa4">Metallibomb</a>

I named it Metallibomb.
XL 325 is also put innable with same results, just more speed, and a little bit less of something i can't remember.

The ONLY drawback is Jumpjets... :D

Try with 1 less jump jet and change one srm 6 to a srm4. Then just about max up the armor and add a ton of srm ammo.

HGN

Your build isn't bad it just dosent have staying power, say on your first poptart you get hit in the leg by a 6PPC stalker. He could potentially take off your armor and crit both tons of ammo with that one shot. (290 damage internaly? :D )
