Personal favourites are the Mad Cat/Timberwolf - Vulture/Mad Dog - Catapult.

In every BattleTech game ive ever played, and ive played most of them, even when the game mechanics were against my inclusion of said mechs in the current mission - i always brought one along fitted with the best loadout i could give it. Even when it made the game very difficult due to lacking armour/weapons/speed etc etc.

I would always load my mechs with almost all long range weapons as i never liked getting hit. If i wasnt 100% i was not happy. :P

MW4: Mercs i played mostly the Vulture even when i was facing mechs vastly more powerful.
MW4: Vengeance i played Mad Cat and iirc Mad Cat Mk 2.

What has been your favourite Mechs throughout the MechWarrior and MechCommander games?

MW3 was the Daishi. MW4 was the Cauldron-Born or the Hunchback was a brawler all the way then.

TT I'm an Archer jock. In MW3 and 4 I bounced a lot between the Bushwacker and Vulture.

I didnt mind the Bushwacker. It wasnt what i really wanted to use, but it surprisingly filled its purpose quite well with its jack-of-all-trades approach to a load out.

TT? Warhammer

MW3? Orion/Thor with the Pirates moon expansion I'd add in the Awesome

MW4 (Mercs/with Mektek)? I liked the Turkina, Archer, Battlemaster

Mechcommander 1? Awesome

Mechcommander 2 (with the Wolfman-X mod) ? Cyclops, Fafnir

DarkAge? Madcat MK III and the Ares

(yes I'm aware of the hatred towards DarkAge but I did play it with my Uncle and had fun with my Steel Wolves army, until the game sucked even more due to expansions coming out like every week and the rules changing 40 billion times)

No matter what mechwarrior or battletech game i have played, the one mech that is always in my heart, is the catapult, whenever i played with ppl online, i was always the long range punisher where i would have 1 scout using a narc missle system laying out the volleys, except in mechassault series, still used my catapult, but favored the vtol in it, otherwise it would have been the madcat

Yeah totally this. I loved raining HELL from well and truly out of my target's range. And add in the Narc Missile... SAWEET! On my Catapult i would put in LRM's and ER lasers to conserve ammo when targeting defenseless targets.

From the original paper game would be the Battlemaster. I still have drawings with 'custom' camo using pencil crayons!

I've always considered the Warhammer to be the iconic mech during the Succession Wars days. MW2 it was all about the Timberwolf. Mechwarrior 2 Mercs Zeus (opening Cinematic for Mech 2 Mercs still ranks high on my list of favorites). Mech 3 I loved the Dire Wolf. I remember 1v1 against my bro when he was in a Shadow Cat and I loaded my Dire Wolf with nothing but LRM 20's. The look on his face when I fired was priceless. Mech 4 I loved the Fafnir. Double Ultra AC20's yes please!

MadCat - Mainly just because this thing could carry a truly ridiculous amount of firepower. I used to run one with twin ERPPCs, and 100 LRMs. It ran stupid hot, but it could lay down so much pain that it was worth it. You could either just launch the full salvo of 100lrms and peg them with the PPC's, which had a non-zero chance of just killing them outright, with an almost guarantee of at least knocking them over... or you could just chainfire the LRMS in an endless stream and incessant missile lock warning beeps for the target until they either ran away or died. Once the missiles started hitting, the target could not hope to return fire at all due to the constant knock.

Loki - One of the most fun mechs to drive. Could be rigged up to run faster than most medium and light mechs. Packing ERPPCs, a full sensor suite, and jacked up speed made this one of the greatest scout/harrasser mechs in MW4... If you encountered other scouts, they were generally medium or light mechs, so you could kill them. Anything else was too slow to really prevent you from staying out of their range and picking at them over time while relaying their location to the rest of your lance.

Raven - Another great mech with a full sensor suite... didn't have the punch of the loki of course, but damn if it didn't have the best crazy chicken walk when it was running full speed.

The smallest fastest chassis I can stick an AC 20 was always a blast to use in the MW games. I am partial to the Dragon and Owens (or rather Owns)

Maurader/Maurader II: Can't explain it but the aesthetics of this mech have always had an appeal for me and the weapons make for a fun & versatile brawler IMHO. The curves and slopes should make for great armor deflection of incoming fire. The default weapons pack a punch, mobility is good, yeah, this is the number one choice of mechs.

Phoenix Hawk, Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine: JJs make them versatile and adaptable.

Enable me a garage with Shadow Hawk and a Maurader II and a happy warrior you'll see.

Semper Fi,

A Knight
