ill start.

i dont like frozen city day because the fog causes low fps since the Heavy Metal patch.

i like alpine because its big, its visible and the ambient temp is pretty low - I LOVE bringing ERPPCs to this map.

River city
River city: Night
Tourmaline

I like them all for the same reasons. They offer a good variety of terrain for fighting in, which means any role can make a meaningful contribution to the team.

Least favoured:
Alpine.

The opposite of the above. Not enough variety for my liking. It's too big to get away with being so empty.

My favourite: Tourmaline. I really appreciate the three dimensional, multiple route options of Tourmaline. It is obviously a well-designed map.

My least favourite: Alpine. I feel this is an attempt to explore open, real world topography. Real world topography does not neccessarily make a good map to fight on. It lacks focus, obvious intentions in its design - and is the wrong shape (it is too square - unused corners are wasted real estate - it should have been a narrower shaped rectangle.

Less square maps please, developers. Please explore different map shapes (long rectangles, more focus, maps with dogleg turns -- maps designed with focus, like a golf course designer designs a hole.)

edit: That said, I do realise a map needs to be big enough to allow 12v12. But square maps, with corners that will never be tactically used? Really?

i totally agree about the sqaure maps argument. there are so many dead corners in our current maps. even in the smaller ones. there is a whole area behind one of the bases in frozen city that neveeeeeer gets used.

My favorite map is the map with my highest win/loss ratio and my least favorite of course is the map with my lowest win/loss ratio.

Favorite = River City Night
Least favorite = River City (day version)

Alpine, tourmaline and caustic are my favs. Caustic is no1 but im still sad its missing its variant =(

River city still has to be the worst. Basically its the getting stuck on building/bridges bugs, also the fog/dust particles seem to screw with my fps every so often.

Reasons: The big maps are too big. I'd be ok with the size if there was something to actually do on these maps, rather than just stomping around for 5 minutes until the fight starts. I like the maps that I like due to good visibility and plenty of cover. It's also easy to maintain situational awereness.

Despite the FotM sniper builds, I enjoy alpine and tourmaline, they remind me a bit of MW4 and create some tactical considerations when building mechs.

Least favorite is river city night. The darkness doesn't actually hide anything, just makes it annoying to fight.

Faves:

Big maps. These are maps that we will be playing on for the rest of the game, and PGI has said that Caustic sized maps were the Small/Med size and the smallest were the Forest Colony Maps. These big maps give you room to spread out and attack from multiple angles, and fit 12v12 players perfectly.

Hated maps:

Small maps, River City needs to be renamed River TOWN. That thing is so SMALL, and it doesn't even LOOK like a "city" at all. If it was 2x the size and looked like an area of a city you are fighting over, THEN it would be good (like in MW4 where you fought over "areas" of the city and those were massive).


Fixes? Scale the little ones up.
