not even the people complaining about JJ have a lot to say about the trebuchet.
it's a shame that such a bad decision by PGI made them obsolete.
i don't have one or ever bought one but i remember when they first came out and it was refreshing to see an LRM jumper. it was quite the tactical mech!
too bad i haven't seen them since the missile nerf

Even before Ballistic HSR and snipe-fest they weren't apparent much.
Very glad I finished eliting all of mine, the way the game is now my Jenner has equivalent firepower, faster speed, and a smaller profile.

Bad news: The Trebuchet was never good.

Eh, the SRM nerf just exposed a bad mech for what it was. The only thing the Treb ever had going for it was the two variants with jumps jets and only then because you could do some funny stuff with SRM brawling if you could run the jets well.

Running it with a fast XL was such a different vibe to my Hunchie that I was having a lot of fun.
The problem is, that with SRMs less effective it's not a great mech anymore (in a competitive sense that is - it's still a lot of fun).
I have delayed buying another 2 variants until I see what happens next month with missiles.
I actually think that the damage reduction on missiles has been a good thing, They should not go up to pre fix levels, but I feel their damage is just a touch low at the moment.
As one medic army says, you can out DPS the Trebs with a Jenner. My JR7-F is faster, harder to hit and packs a mighty punch with 6 ml.
In addition, ballistic state rewind means that 120 kph is no defence against twin AC/20 Jaggers anymore. Not in something as big as a medium.

Saw several today and I still sometimes run one for fun. LRMs aren't great right now but SRMS/SSRMs are viable and the Trebuchet's agility makes for a nasty flanker.

Seen them around, have not disappeared from the game. Just different tactics and setups on some, not the usual.

The 5J is where its at. I never saw the treb as a LRM'y mech. Like a laserboating light.
So I srapped on some ERPPCS, couple JJs with an XL320 engine and am having fun zooming around the map PPCing heavies and assaults!
Sounds like fun. Think I might buy a 5J and try this tonight!
How many jets do you think the treb needs, do you max out on 5 jets or take less?
